New Twsbi Eco-T

I do not have the pen in front of me now. But, I am fairly confident the nib and feed are fixed. I pulled the nib and feed, and seem to recall there was a flat spot on the end of the feed.

 

 

Based off the Eco's feed there is a flat spot on the feed but no corresponding notch in the grip so it can rotate freely, I suspect it's the same on the Eco T although I don't yet have my hands on one.

Does anyone else find it funny that Lanbitou managed to get 2 versions of their Eco copy to the market (with a triangular grip) before TWSBI managed to get one?

I did not realize the other ECO feed had the flat spot. Thanks for clarification on that.

 

I finally got time to look at the ECO-T more closely. It's been a busy day. I can for certain tell you that the feed is fully adjustable like the other ECO feed assemblies.

That's incorrect. The feed is not fixed and you can rotate it according to your preference, which IMO is a nice alternative to the Lamy Safari if the Fixed nib doesn't suit you.

 

Also, I wouldn't say the facets are very subtle. They are subtle, but add a significant level of grip to the section when compared to the Original Eco. The Facets aren't as substantial as the Lamy Safari, which has an emphasized articulation of the section, but I think the Eco provides a happy medium between a rounded section and something like the Lamy Safari. The Facets taper further back up the section towards the body so you get the feel of a rounded section but with a benefit of a faceted section as the facets enlarge closer to the nib where they flare out to nice subtle, but significant lips that have a nice concave shape that contours the finger tips nicely providing good surface area for traction for your fingers.

 

The Eco-T is quite comfortable and I think they did a great job on providing customers with a happy medium between a rounded and faceted section.

 

If you like the Lamy Safari I think you'll like the Eco T, and if you don't like the Lamy Safari, the Eco-T is different enough where I think you still may like the Eco-T.

 

As with the Original Eco, you get a great package with a sturdily built pen, a sturdy little pen case with needed accessories, and a great nib that now has an improved section IMO.

I received my Eco-T the other day and I will say:

 

1) The difference in barrel design and width is not pronounced, though I do prefer it over the original Eco.

2) I really like the color!

TWSBI is next on my purchase list. Additional colours would be nice. Not that the blue is bad; it just would not be my first choice. Looking forward to trying the TWSBI brand.

I don't have calipers at my disposal to measure the sections, but my initial impression is "both Eco models are about the same".

 

It's not a radical difference in feel to me.

Does this model have an inbuilt leak like many of us have experienced with the first model Eco? Very interested to hear if Twsbi have overcome a problem that makes me gun shy of Ecos.

Mine arrived last Thursday. As others have said, the facets on the section are subtle, particularly when compared to the Lamy Safari. I don't get too fussed about sections/grips, so it's not a selling point for me. I chose the Eco-T for the color, the more triangular shape of cap/end cap (as compared to the Eco), and price.

 

I purchased the 1.1 stub and it's a good writer. Smooth with a little feedback, which may be the ink (Diamine Asa Blue). I suspect it would really skate with something like Sailor Kiwa-Guro.

 

It's the only pen I own that I prefer to use unposted. It's slightly top-heavy when posted. You have to give it a little force to post/unpost which is a little off-putting for me as most of my writing is short notes.

 

I'm very happy with it and hope more colors are forthcoming. It's my first TWSBI and won't be my last.

I really love the colour. I have the green and turquoise Ecos and I like any colour on that spectrum, but this blue is a bright pure blue.

Got mine for Christmas with fine nib. This was also my first TWSBI. Love it so far. Will definitely be getting more pen's of the brand. I have waterman green ink in it as of now and i like the fact that i can see the ink.

How do you like the combo? I found Kensington Blue a bit on the dry side (although not as bad as Presidential Blue). Have to check my notes to see what pen I had it in.

I keep looking at the Eco-T, but would have to see one up close to be able to decide if I could deal with that bright a color in the long run (I decided that with last year's Pacific Blue Lamy Al-Star -- and ended up spending MORE $$ on a pink TWSBI 580-AL instead... ).
