I guess I should get photos of my stash taken and uploaded, including the one I bought yesterday at an estate sale (along with another Sheaffer, which is a lever-filler).

The new Snorkie is I think a burgundy Sovereign, with the engraved cap (I had to double check that the cap was correct because all my other ones have caps with cap bands). Lord only knows what condition the guts are in (and it wasn't till I got outside that the lever filler has a bad crack in the cap, right by the threading) -- but the the two pens cost me a total of $4 US for the pair, and both have 14K nibs. :D

Here is an Australian Sheaffer Snorkel Admiral in pastel blue (aqua) c1953-1961. The Admiral has a plain 14K gold No. 5 nib, a plastic cap with gold-fill clip and 1/4 inch gold-fill band, and a plastic barrel. The Australian Snorkel Admiral was only produced in the ‘original’ Snorkel colours - black, burgundy, pastel gray, pastel blue (aqua) and pastel green - with a black section. The Australian factory didn't produce the Snorkel Special, so the Admiral is the bottom of the Australian Snorkel range. In 1954, a Snorkel Admiral cost 75 Australian Shillings (75/-).

How do you tell the difference between "Fiesta Red" and Vermillion"?

It's hard with only one pen. SIde by side they are slightly different. I also have the advantage of a Vermillion Cadet to compare. Fiesta Red pens don't have color match sections, either.

I have a sentinel just like this one!

Snorkels are criminally underrated pens which also means they are amongst the very best value buys right now! Get em while you can!
