No offense, but Ive never done business with them. Since this is already expensive, I dont want this getting out of hand for me.

Yes. Pensindia.com is an expensive option and 823 FA is available at MSRP without any discount. So it will make it super expensive.

The only option to keep the price to minimum is that someone visiting Japan carry it personally for you. Even if Tokyo Quill shop ships it for you and doesn't undervalue, there is a risk of 40% custom duty being levied.

Sometimes somethings are a blessing in disguise. Have you used the FA nib before? Have you used the 823 with its ink shutoff knob before?

Why not try the FA on a cheaper 742 first?

just my 5 paise worth of suggestions having owned a FA for 9 years and a 823 for slightly longer I believe.

This had been there for some time. Try changing the shipping from ems to 'small parcel' or registered parcel...

That is a completely different issue where your pin code is not serviced by Japan post EMS. They won't ship, whether it is EMS or small packet.

It's a shop exclusive model. Pensindia cannot get this otherwise it won't be an exclusive model anymore.

I haven’t ever used the 823 or the FA nib, but that’s what reviews are for, aren’t they? I mean I would certainly love to try them out first, but nobody I know won’t spend more than 30 bucks on a pen, let alone a custom 823..

Your experience may or may not match the reviewers experience. I personally dont believe reviews very much except to obtain a general idea before actually owning the pen and forming my own opinion.

Any one has had any problems shipping the pens to Dubai, the ones like MontBlanc or Pelikan? I believe the customs duty is somewhere close to 5% but I may be wrong. Not sure what Fedex or DHL would charge as commission for taking through the Dubai customs.

Didn't mean to hijack this thread.
