Hell of a great post! :notworthy1:

That UEF is one hell of a needle point.

The gold nibs of Lamy I didn't get to see anything of in the newspaper won factory tour I did some four-five years ago, in the gold section was closed for 09:00 breakfast....preventing them from getting paranoid about strangers and gold.

The steel nibs are all done robotically, in a 4 Meter/yard deep, 10 meter/yard long machine, where a man just changes the thin diamond rubber nib slit maker. There was some twenty steps to punching out the nib. They needed a bit of heat to bring the well spread tines back together again.

Tested was on a big 5 foot or so drum with a paper roll, by sound. Any that didn't sound right were kicked out to a little ol'lady who tweeked them....often needing only one go, sometimes 4 to have the nib good.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Unfortunately, the nib in the first image would be a bit scratchy. The left hand tine, when held normally, extends past the other tine, and has a sharp edge to it.

Otherwise, a very interesting post.

It does appear that way. However, I wonder if it isn't an optical illusion from the shadows cast by the lighting source.

Interesting to compare the shaping of the tips of Pelikan nibs vs Montblanc nibs. The Pelikans are now completely ball shaped while Montblanc still has considerable stubiness to theirs.
