Parker Duofold Streamline Pressure Bar Reassembly

So I've searched this topic and was not able to find an answer for my simple question. I have a duofold streamline with the slip in section and a "hanging" 3 piece bar. I understand how the bar works to compress to sac but I can't figure out how I should reassemble it.

I tried inserting the bar first and then the sac section but the problem is the bar does not fit in the button. I've done button repairs once before with a flat top screw in section and was under the impression the narrow curved bar should fit inside the button.

The part with a lip bent at 90 degrees to the bar should rest on the flat top of the threaded "boss". The button should be inserted over the other part as i have marked in your picture.

insert the talced sacced section into the barrel first.

Insert the pressure bar next. the pressure bar plate should face the sac. Observe standard precautions of not telescoping the sac while inserting the bar.

inserting the button is the last step.

Thanks for the reply. If I'm reading correctly, one piece of the bar should go outside the button and one should be inside the button, and then all inserted into the hole. I tried that and it was very tight and would not go in.

I feel like I'm missing something here?

Did you remove the pressure bar from the section side?, after removal of section?

Button hole shrinkage is common, you may have to enlarge the hole carefully with a hand reamer or a drill bit.

If you have a pair of calipers, measure the widest part of the pressure bar that has to go in; the hole should be slightly larger than that. 5.0mm is generally recommended. but take call after measuring.

Also clean the pressure bar thoroughly. It typically rusts with a powdery buildup. I use a 3000 grade wet and dry paper wet, to remove the rust and build up and then clean dry the bar thoroughly before re-installation.

Lets us know how it goes.

I

Worked like a charm. I just had to sand down the buildup of gunk.
