Rust/erosion On The Rings Of Heritage Le1906

Hi,

I just noticed that the two rings on one of my Heritage LE1906 ebonite FP were partially eroded, despite the fact that I never used it.

So I have two ebonite FPs with different nib sizes. I use one of them regularly and the rings are intact. The other one has been sitting in the original box for half a year and never inked. Today I took it out and found noticeable rust/erosion on the rings. Do any of you encounter the same issue?

Left: the one I've never used

Not on Montblancs, but definitely on my Visconti vermeil when it needs polishing after sitting in the case instead of being used. See if a polishing cloth takes it off. Hand oils from regular use protect metal bits, hence the difference.

I found there were two protrusions on the surface of the barrel on my Heritage LE1906 ebonite FP after one month I bought it. The pen was sent back to Germany to replace the barrel for about half a year. I have never seen such a thing happened on my other ebonite pens.

Thank you @ghost plane and @mjchuang9 for your feedback!

I've left it at the Boutique. Let's see what Hamburg will do with it.

Is it just the lighting, or is that pen also discolored compared to the non-damaged pen?

It's not lighting, it's an ebonite issue

Unfortunately I have, twice. I don't think the MB metals are so resistant and I think any moisture in conjunction with tight seal may lead to that problem. To that end I try to air any MB pens with metal rings at least every now and then.

thank you for sharing your experience!

Update: I've gotten the pen back from Hamburg with polished (I believe) rings. The service is good and fast!
