Enjoying Montblanc Pens — Broad, Oblique, Extra Fine, Le & Bespoke

Quick poll.....all 149s or mix it up with other pens?

Variety is the spice of life. To have only one model of pen would be to miss the joys of discovery. However, feel free to think of 149s like you favorite food - no reason not to overdose on what you like best.

I'm a "mix it up" guy... of my very modest 20 MB collection, half are 146 and 149 sized pens. Enjoy the quest!

Hmm...

Which size would I set aside?

They're all outstanding daily writers!

Stock - no. But it can be ordered through the bespoke program or you can have one ground.

I read here that it can be available on a standard nib exchange. However I haven't managed to confirm that yet.

~ What a pair!

Yours truly has never held a Pelikan Italic nib.

It's gorgeous! After straining my eyes, I wasn't able to determine what color the pen barrel might be.

Doesn't matter. It's a beauty, with ink on the nib, showing recent use. That's especially nice to see.

The Montblanc nib is a great contrast on the dried starfish.

Thank you for posting such a cool image!

The starfish makes me think of home. (I'm from the Hanalei side of the North Shore of Kauai...a small community near Ke’e Beach called Haena)

Goodness!

We LOVE Kauai. Sadly...no jobs in my field to be found there so we had to "settle" for Honolulu. Still, try to visit Kauai as often as we can. It's gotten super crowded on that island in the last few years from increased tourism.

The body of the Pelikan is the brown striated tortoiseshell.

Aloha!!

That would be news to me. Tom has a lovely thread on his bespoke EEF and all about the process.

Tom--

I have one of these Pelikan Italic Broad nibs--it is the smaller size to fit the 200-400 size Pelikans. Right now I have it in the M250 Levenger Special Brown tortoise, inked with Robert Oster Orange Zest. It's a delight to use, and I must admit I like the easy interchangeability of Pelikan nibs very much.

Aloha from Central China!

You've settled for Honolulu? There's times that I'd gladly settle for Kalihi!

I'm delighted that you folks visit the Garden Isle.

As my parents and only sister forever rest there, my heart often returns in fond memory.

The beauty is unparalleled.

May you often return to Kauai and enjoy it more on each visit.

Thank you for your kind words and for identifying which nice Pelikan you use. It's a terrific nib!

Wow. China! My dad was posted in Qingdao a bunch of years back. One and only time I've visited and we did it in the middle of winter...probably not the smartest thing to do :)

~ Hi, Jay!

What you've kindly explained to me above is an eye-opener.

Your strong endorsement carries much weight with me.

Both the Levenger Special Brown tortoise and the Robert Oster Orange Zest are appealing to me.

You've set me to thinking!

Thank you.

Lets raise a cup to being different, yet always a star

That's a lovely image!

The hues and tones of the three precious metals shows so clearly.

Letting the three stars be in bokeh heightens their appeal.

Thank you so much for sharing an especially nice image.

Yours truly was a guest at 2008 Olympic Sailing competition in Qingdao (青岛).

I'm so glad that you visited on of the nicest coastal cities in mainland China.

My work brought me here in 1999 and I've remained, doing my best to be useful and stay out of trouble.

A positive aspect of working in China is the widespread availability of Montblanc boutiques.

Tom: It's a small world! I have cousins in law on Kauai. They ran a surf shop on the south coast and lived near Koloa. The younger generation is in Lihue. We visited once - the beauty is incredible, and everything they say about the red dirt is true!

Aloha! Thank you for telling about your stay on Kauai.

Koloa is a lovely area. My parents found their Shih Tzu from a breeder there.

Ha! Red dirt is endemic on Kauai.

I'm so glad that the Garden Isle's beauty pleased you.

It's a special spot out in the Pacific Ocean.
