Mine are multi-colored as I change pens each time I sit down again. Smallest nib B, largest OBBB. I’m not sure I own black ink.

That helps.

Thank you.

It makes sense to grab an inked pen and write.

As pens are inked with the spectrum, most colors, other than shades of white, ivory or cream, might be used.

That nibs from the broad side are useful for journals is reassuring.

I've no objection to F nibs or even EF nibs as journal writers, but wonder if such nibs might miss out on the fun of expressiveness through prominent shading and line width variation.

Tom, that 1266 is a magnificent pen. The nib does produce excellent line variation. Very interesting to read the circumstances in which you gained knowledge of this pen model.

Thank you for sharing those events and for providing yet more photos of such great quality and composition. You must have a very steady hand, evidenced by the photo in post #1724. I cannot match this even using a tripod!

Thank you for your very kind comments on the 1266 OBBB.

The process by which it came to my writing desk was an adventure.

Most Montblanc fountain pens with which I write were acquired over fairly extended periods of time, largely due to the complex logistics in the area where I work and live.

Photographing fountain pens nudges me towards greater attention to detail than I might have while holding a pen during writing.

When I began my photography journey several years ago, I was in my late 50s. At that time I wondered if I might be a bit late to the post, in terms of developing sound camera skills.

Over time it became clear that I did have a fairly steady hand. As it is, nearly every image I make is handheld, as a result of my hand and arm position.

I also shoot using M, Manual shooting mode, preferring to set as many camera functions myself, rather than relying on the built-in algorithms.

All of that results in more errors at the outset, but with time a satisfactory balance results.

I ws so moved by your kind comments that I placed the 1266 OBBB nib with the two Classique 145s for a group portrait.

That's to express my appreciation for your comments and for your inspiring thread showing your collection of 144, 145, Classique fountain pens.

As will soon be apparent, you've inspired me.

Tom - yes, Redmond O'Hanlon's magnum opus. I was reading it on an airplane - in quite a small coach seat - and I very nearly fell into the aisle, I was laughing so hard. More than once flight attendants stopped to ask if I was okay.

It's not perfect - the last 25% is not as good as what precedes - but it's truly wonderful. Also I learned a lot about Borneo. I even got my forum name from the book: empliau means 'gibbon' in the Dyak language.

I need a lipstick the color of that cap.

~ Ghost Plane:

Would that be “Schiller Deep Saffron” for the lady?

It's available in a triple broad tube.

Shall we gift wrap that?

BTW: The Schiller is one model without any ‘step’, which is a plus.

I'm working on tearing a student away from final examination cramming to weigh the 1266 OBBB on a digital balance.

A Dyak nom-de-plume, no less!

Who knew?

Books which trigger public laughter are the best.

Many thanks for the persuasive recommendation.

Do not disturb the students! :yikes: The pen will be there, but revising for that final will (hopefully) never occur again.

All three...plus more.

If one is good, three is better.

OBBBs of a grind, flock together.

Three for one, and all for three.

Trois, 三, three. They're all OBBB to me.

I got your point. Edgy humor with an oblique slant to the pun.

Can't pull a fast one on a veteran.

May this be added:

“I never met an OBBB that I didn't like”.
