I'm super sad that at the time I saw it on ebay, I couldn't afford the unicorn vintage MB 146 OBBB. siiiiiiiiiigh. So a few months later I consoled myself with what I think was a pretty good deal - a mint burgundy MB 146 still stickered, with a BB nib that I won for a mere $410 USD.

As soon as it shows up, I promise to take lots of pictures!

I wish more MB 146s came with OBBB nibs. I really want to try one, but a 149 is just to big for me to comfortably use.

Hoping the pen was a juicy one being a BB nib and they can be gushers, how do you like it and are there a few pictures posted elsewhere on FPN of the new pen?

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Tom!

After using my little 114 I decided to revisit a 146 that I haven't used in a bit. Which led me to using several more of these beautiful pens. Seems that my very first 146 is probably a B nib, too. I'm not sure why I haven't been using it, but it's definitely going into my regular rotation!

If 149s are too large for use, how might a smaller pen with an OBBB feel?

The 32 OBBB with which I've written during the past week has been an absolute delight.

There are other vintage OBBBs available, typically around half a century old.

I hope that sooner or later an OBBB of comfortable dimensions makes it onto your writing desk.

Yubi seems to be getting fluffier

~ Uncial:

He is indeed becoming more like a little puffy cloud.

His coat is somehow tangle-free, which he assists by frequent shaking himself.

Student friends marvel at his softness and lack of any typical dog-like odor.

He's fun to be around. I often lay my head on a pillow on the floor, letting him approach for kisses and cuddles.

Watching the little dust mop toddling about with is Pekingese gait brings laughter into my daily life.

That he's not a chewer hasn't lessened my vigilance with fountain pens.

I'm unwilling to tempt his better nature with a fascinating pen just right for his small mouth.

~ Shannon:

Seldom has any handwriting sample brought to mind the term “ravishing”, in terms of beauty.

Yet the overall look of the R & K Scabiosa in your original 146 does just that.

It has the antique look I like with line variation, ample shading, and a delightful crispness.

This is further evidence of my lack of experience and my poorly trained eye. I'd never have known that it was a B as I'd have mistakenly supposed it to be an especially well-crafted BB nib.

Shows how much remains for me to learn.

Thank you so much for posting the comparison image. It offers visual information from your outstanding collection.

I didn't intend to overlook your superb Bordeaux 144 F nib.

The lovely nib and intense barrel color stand out in the photograph.

Thank you for including it.

~ The scale of Axel Nier's wedding ring fits with the scale of the nibs.

~ Hi, Feamat!

Wow! This is terrific!

Adding this category of Special Editions to your masterful comprehensive list will add another dimension to understanding Montblanc releases.

Thank you for noting the other Special Editions, none of which I knew about.

You're educating me.

These pens represent Montblanc quality crafted into pens for market segments in various areas of the globe.

If all goes well, I hope to eventually acquire one of these Special Editions.

Your careful labor in preparing your list is appreciated by everyone who reads it.

Tom K.

That's magnificent!

You've carefully arranged the city-linked fountain pens in a clear, easily comprehensible format.

I've learned more from your list.

The 2006 “Arena di Verona” is altogether new to my limited experience.

I'd mistakenly supposed that the recent “Les Splendeurs de Paris” was a 145, rather than a 144.

Thank you for your careful research and valuable information.

It's sure to help others in the future, as it's helped me.

With Appreciation,

Tom K.

Comparison Between a Montblanc Yellow Gold 145 EF and a Sheaffer School Pen M

Mixed Company

2001 Patron of Art Marquise de Pompadour F Nib and a Sheaffer School Pen M Nib

**********************

This particular Sheaffer School Pen M Nib is the first fountain pen I ever used, from my high school days at the outset of the 1970s

It continues to be an excellent writer, as are both the yellow gold 145 EF and the PoA Marquise de Pompadour F

Tom, I love the comparison and I have one of the those school pens, but drool over the BBBB nib - my son however, loves the doggy.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I am curious as to why is the piston knob not fully retracted...

~ Reed_thoughts:

The PoA Marquise de Pompadour was flushed two days ago.

There's no ink in it at present.

BTW: That piston knob mechanism is hands-down the smoothest I've ever felt in any pen from any manufacturer.

Yubi is flattered that your son likes him.

The Bespoke Small Signature BBBB nib is dazzlingly wonderful as a writer.

While taking notes during a morning of oral interviews, one pen ran out of ink.

The Bespoke Small Signature stepped in and wrote with élan.

The monotone yellow gold 149 nib looks lovely in morning light.
