Received the gorgeous Mark Twain FP with B nib ... it was billed as new but unfortunately, it wasnt. Dried ink on section ring and oodles more when I flushed it 25 odd times. Oh Well ! Dishonesty never escapes us humans.. does it ? All cleaned up now and hence, I inked it in Exupery ... This should provide me with good company while my first truly new Twain gets an EF nib on it voyage to Hamburg.

The image you posted with stark shadows is terrific!

Very sorry that you had to flush it a couple of dozen times.

Does this mean that you'll have a pair of Twains? A B nib and later an EF nib?

If so, will the twain Twain meet on a plain in Spain?

Tom,

Thank you for your kind words about my pictures. You're very generous, since I'm a mediocre photographer at best.

The blue hour is a great pen indeed and I'm quite enjoying it. I also received a 1912 yesterday that I think I like even more than the Blue Hour.

I hope you get the contract extended again for many years.

Yubi's "baby pup" photo is awesome. He is so cute!

Hamlet says hello to him!

I'm very glad to know that you've been enjoying both the Solitaire Blue Hour and the 1912.

To receive both within a short span is a major addition to your writing desk.

Your images are a delight, Luis! By all means please do share more whenever that's convenient.

Thank you for your very kind comments about Yubi.

He sends his warmest tail-wagging to Hamlet!

Three cheers for Yubi; the pup with the finest taste in pens.

My gran always wanted a Pekinese but there were never any breeders near her. She had to make do with somewhat yappy Yorkshire mini's.

~ Uncial:

I'm struck by your comment about your gran having mini Yorkshire Terriers.

Why? Because after his bath, Yubi's fur coloration was very similar to that of a typical Yorkie.

When he's dry, that's not so apparent, but when wet, the silvery, coppery tones are there.

Further evidence of Yubi's taste in fountain pens will follow.

Thank you for your nice comment.

Continue testing the M nib of the pen before sent it for an exchange to BB and the Emerald ink:

Medium nibs are magnificent, too. Thanks for offering us a wonderful writing sample.

Doing a little nib testing

~ Ghost Plane:

Thank you for posting that comparison image.

They're all highly appealing...but...the Blue Hour Skeleton is truly over-the-top gorgeous!

Such broad nib eye candy is a welcome sight for those with a sweet tooth for such beauties.

Nib testing like that inspires one to ink up an underused pen.

Doing a little nib testing

In the immortal words of Austin Powers.....

"And I'm spent"  :puddle:

Is the top 149 really an O3B?, or is the top a B, with the lower being the O3B?

To me it looks like, from top to bottom: O3B, B+, 3B, and BB.

The question is, where are the writing samples? :)

The nib shots are supposed to create an air of tension and anticipation like a dramatic drum roll. We might still get our writing samples. Edited by meiers

Thanks Zaddick, I understand. Is this something MB could do with such an old pen, or would I have to seek someone out privately. (I lived in the Bay Area a couple of years ago so could have popped round to yours!). Anyhow, I will see how it goes first and not carry it around in my shirt pocket ;-)

If you are in the UK then look up member eckiethump who has an excellent reputation. Also I am told Battersea Pen Home can restore pens. I haven't had the need to use anyone yet, so usual disclaimer applies!

Well, it took two weeks and the Dostoevsky pen returned with a new double broad nib. They also did things I never asked them to. They repaired the gold plating on the clip hump, removed a blob of discoloration on the lower cap ring, polished the pen so it looks like new and regilded the engraved signature.

Say what you like about the price of Montblanc but I have to say I've been seriously impressed by their customer service. I'm having trouble posting pics here lately but when I get it figured out I'll throw some up. To say I'm a happy bunny is perhaps an understatement.

That would make sense to me...... I was staring so intently at the 149's that I missed the oblique on the skeleton

I kept staring at that 3B trying to see an angle in it, and couldn't

It's uploading pics for me again so I decided to post my Dostoevsky BB in the review section. First pic has a teeny weeny writing sample too.

For the convenience of future readers I've posted the link above.

It's very helpful to see the images of your delightful Dostoevsky BB nib.

Thank you for mentioning it in this thread.

That's a Writers Edition pen which I especially admire.

Equipping it with a BB nib makes it a choice gem among pens.

May it write very well for you now and in the years to come!
