Not as amazing as tom's nibs, but let me share some of mine!

Your trio of nibs look amazing on my computer screen.

Really lovely, in such an appealing composition.

Thank you for posting these for us to enjoy.

Seeing an ensemble of outstanding nibs like yours brings delight!

While there is a lot going on in this thread, it's one of the most active, most social, and most read on FPN, as well as including the most pictures outside of the Pen Photography forum.

If you really want your head to spin, try to keep up with the kids on Reddit's /r/fountainpens. They buy many inexpensive pens, mostly so they can buy more ink and paper, and try to figure out how to use these modern antique ink pens.

Google can search into FPN, so if there's text you're looking for in a post, Google should be able to find it.

Someone wrote to me expressing their enjoyment of the potpourri topics in this thread.

It's intended for fun and enjoyment, rather than curatorial precision. There are ample other threads well-suited for archival research.

Montblanc fountain pens are a source of happiness as writers, which takes many forms.

I love the variety of posts and topics here which present the unexpected, adding zest to each week.

Thank you for mentioning about Google, which hasn't been available where I work and live for many years.

I thought some more about what you said and it seems to be that being a little lost is what I seem to want nowadays. There is a bit too much visibility in the present world, an almost needless flow of information which springs the desire for mindless consumption. Some treasures should probably stay lost ..

~ nishant:

In an era of excess and information overload, sometimes enough is enough.

What stays in the memory may be the gold...what slips away into forgetfulness is time's sand.

The treasures of Montblanc nibs are often both literally and figuratively gold.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

Ordered mine today ... maybe they will artive still this week ;-)

~ Michael R.:

After the inks reach you, any comment you might have about them would be most welcome.

Your evaluation of them as possible inks for use in Montblanc pens would mean a lot to those of us considering a possible purchase.

I hope that they arrive soon!

My OBBB 149 with custom Urushi Ishime and Raden

~ teeitup418holes:

Thank you for posting images of such a remarkable one-of-a-kind 149 OBBB!

I've never seen any OBBB anything like that — unique!

Please pardon my ignorance. What does “Urushi Ishime and Raden” signify?

There aren't usable international search engines available where I work and live, so I'm unable to look up “Urushi Ishime and Raden”.

Ishime is a textured finish like a natural stone surface.

Raden refers to the shell fragments applied to the surface. They are often sea snails and have blue to purple to pink coloration.

The effort to create such a surface is non-trivial, if done with traditional methods.

What a neat 149. Who is the artist?

It was done by Bokumondoh in Japan - it is truly masterful!

Thank you for providing this information.

When others post in FPN, it's ever more apparent how little I know and what masters of information post here.

This may help anyone else, who, like yours truly, wasn't aware of such subtleties.

With Appreciation,

Tom K.

Thank you so much for sharing this information and the images.

It's a very special day to see such a remarkable 149 OBBB posted here.

I'm reluctant to intrude into any confidential matters.

May I please ask where others might inquire to learn more about the artistry and craftsmanship offered by Bokumondoh?

Would it be possible to recommend a starting point for anyone interested?

Again, pardon my ignorance, as the name Bokumondoh is unfamiliar to me despite having worked and lived in Japan for years.

Sorry to mis-use this thread but what‘s the second pen from the left?

124 or 227? Looks like the barrel is not smooth as I would expect but is chased like the cap!

@teeitup418holes:

Nice & unisual 149! Thank you fir showing tjis beauty.

Cheers

Thank you!

Very interesting pen with the chased plastic barrel. All 124s I‘ve seen so far have a smooth barrel.

You should be able to find a matching top jewel essily.

...now I need to start looking for one with a chased barrel also ;-)

Your nib sounds like fun!

Cheers
