Enjoying Montblanc Pens — Broad, Oblique, Extra Fine, Le & Bespoke

The purple, the brown, and the Shakespeare red are my favorites. Unfortunately a previous poster has convinced me that I need the green as well.

Bryant is a major enabler for me, so it seems fitting his luscious advertising shots get dragged into this. He finds such wonderful consignments to tempt me with, often in my favorite nibsizes, darn him!

Pray tell....who is Bryant and should I be stalking him??

Edited to add......Oh...nevermind. I see from a few posts back I need to add Chatterley Luxuries to my bookmarks :D

Definitely! I swear I paid for half his pool and will probably put his boys through college. No affiliation other than sending him far too many paychecks in return for fabulous pens, both new and used.

Bryant has designed pens with Visconti, Delta, and some other brands that slip my mind as I didn’t buy them. I think I “met” him shortly after joining this board when a poster was trying to collect ALL the WE pens. (I think he succeeded for awhile before his family took precedence)

His website is just the tip of the iceberg, so if you don’t see something you want, ask.

Hello Tom and others, Thank you, Tom, for the nib drawing. Many thanks too for the continued nib photos which are truly remarkable. My humble contribution is the quartet of favorites below. All are from the late 1970s: two-tone, 14C nibs. Bottom to top: EF, F, M, B. They are among my favorite writers. Hope photos attach.

Oooops...just lost my footing and am slipping down the slippery ink slide. Burgundy Red, St. Exupery, and Shakespeare Red Velvet are on the way. Now if I could just get my hands on the newest Beatles purple.

Save some dosh for the New Years sales. Fountain Pen Hospital usually throws a late January blowout as I recall. Gotta pace yourself. B)

I really enjoy all the regular production Montblanc inks. They all shade, are well behaved, look great, and just have a lot of character. Good choice on the Burgundy Red, a nice shading dark red shade that looks like red wine. Haven't tried the other two you mention, but would love to see writing samples in that nice 149 medium italic nib when you have a chance.

All Montblanc inks are great. What about to try Meisterstück 90 Years Permanent Grey and Corn Poppy Red too? Enjoy! :-)

Love the Shakespeare! And the 90 Yr Permanent Grey is quite good too, though I only have one.

Slippery ink slide, indeed... wait until you start buying inks trying to match the disco'd ones you missed :headsmack:

And learn the prices of those perfect Kobe, Kingdom Note or Bungubox shades. Whimper! Sailor makes MB look almost affordable.

Y'all are making me impatient for my OB to get back. I've only recently started to explore to wild world of nibs over M. Most of my pens have always been EF or F. I tend to write small, so they worked best.

But then, good paper came into the mix. The ability to use those wider nibs with out feathering and soaking though the paper.

Now I can see like variation, ink shading. Now I just need enough pens to complete the oblique set.

Tom, Theo and Teddy were so happy that you and Zuji were thinking about him! He sends his best puppy regards and promises that one day, maybe soon (or maybe not), he will try to settle down enough to have his picture taken with pens.

Theo looks very contented with his bear.

What a face!

Zuji sends thanks and a happily wagging tail!
