I promised a size comparison of Visconti and MB. Here is a Homo Sapiens Steel oversize with Pd stub, Black Ripple with 18kt stub, and Blue Hour with O3B.

~ Ghost Plane:

Your outstanding Blue Hour Skeleton keeps mighty fine company!

The luminosity in the composition is effective in bringing out the design features of the two dark Visconti pens.

The Blue Hour Skeleton cap is illuminated by light passing within — very nice.

The two Visconti pens are fitted with stubs. Was that a standard option when you acquired them, as opposed to resorting to a nib specialist to craft stubs?

Thank you for posting such an eye-pleasing image here.

Tom, I first learned stubs were an available option on higher end Visconti pens back when Ken Jones now working for Yafa talked me into trying one at a trunk show at a now-defunct Florida pen store. In those days the stubs (and other high end nibs) were 18kt and the midrange a delectably soft feeling 14kt.

They’re a standard 1.3mm and the other standard sizes are EF - F - M - B. The nibs are famous for running wet and wide and I am addicted to both the B and stubs. The B is a round point.

I find them very comparable in performance to MB.

Thank you for posting this comment, which is especially interesting to me.

I admire the WE Dostoevsky and recently pondered what one might be like with an OBB or a BB nib.

You've answered my question. I'm very glad that it writes well for you.

Please enjoy your BB Dostoevsky as you continue to make your way around the Galaxy.

Im a little late to post, and this is going to just be a teaser post. I know I dont know anyone here, but I enjoy sharing my growing love of MB writing instruments.

My most recent acquisition was returned to me about a week and a half ago, after sitting at the boutique for a couple weeks prior to that.

The reason for the delay in getting it back is because I am having to battle cancer for the second time. My prognosis is good but it still takes a lot out of me so I had to delay picking my newest baby up.

But with that (pictures to come, when I take them) but for the teaser. Its a Beatles happy pen edition with an OBB. *happy pen edition is my name, the pen makes me smile.

~ Hi, Jeremy!

Your reply is not entirely unlike my own thoughts.

I've finally had a chance to take some photos of my latest and last aquisition- a Heritage Limited Edition Rouge et Noir!

I'm still not sold on the fine nib, and considering a swap for an OM or OB, but the fine is growing on me!!

Congratulations! I have the same pen with an Oblique Broad nib, it's a bit sharp, but I love it, the ink runs out a bit fast but I don't mind too much, lots of line variation, the nib is pretty much the same as the 1912, which I have in Medium.

Thank you!!

Is it possible to provide a writing sample with this nib? Do you find the nib has any softness/flex to it, or is it firm?

Hey there!

I will try to upload a writing sample this evening, I find the nib of the Rouge et Noir somewhat soft, the 1912 nib looks very similar in shape and size but I feel it a bit firmer than the Rouge et noir's, I don't know if nib sizes makes it different from one another since one is OB and the other M.

Cheers,

Luis A.
