~ Reed_thoughts:

That's surely an angel's eye view of a Monblanc nib.

The radiant light through the daisy is a stunning effect.

I love the way that the nib tip is demurely concealed.

The ink — Burgundy Red? — in the ink window adds a pleasing contrast.

You've shown me how to make an effective pen image in high glare lighting.

Thank you for posting such a delightful nib photograph!

Tom!

I was taking inspiration from you in your nibs+ flowers... Sadly my micro lens was taken back by my sister (its actually hers)...

Because of a lack of micro, i used a Zoom Telephoto at 300mm and f/5.6 (smallest aperture at the focal distance) and then decided to use the daisy laying down, the nib touching the center of the daisy for the colors (greenish yellow core against the two tone nib), and then the surface as a reflective, and the petals to soften the light. The aperture+focal distance meant a very shallow depth of field, and the i manually focused, and voilah!

Again, thank you! your pictures are an inspiration to other (amateaur at best) photography enthusiasts!

Posted Yesterday, 20:30Poor guy wastes that beautiful O3B on signatures when he could be using it for everything. Sigh...

I suspect the insulin-needle contingent fears the capabilities of the OBBB. We can go smaller, but what can they do when more ink is required? (Or they age into reading glasses?)

My OM gets a OB stablemate today. I sent off my Exupéry maybe 5 weeks ago for the swap. I received notification that it is back ready for me to pick it up. Now the horrific part... I'm stuck at work.

An Exupéry decked out in OB sounds formidable.

What a stablemate. Full of vigor, ready to produce strokes of character.

After you bid farewell to your workplace, may the process of picking it up be effortless.

Very glad to know of your choice, and to know that it's reached you.

Thank you for telling us.

Enjoy!

As always, beautifully composed photos, Tom! After years of loving OB and OBB nibs on both Pelikans and Montblancs, I've finally made the plunge and ordered a Montblanc 149 with an O3B nib. Now I'm fretting that it will get held up in customs and take way too long to reach me. But after all this time, I tell myself I can surely wait a little longer . . .well, maybe . . . at my age the sound of "time's winged chariot" is a bit too close!

I pulled a pen out the other night with an interesting nib. It is a MB 250 (aka #9) steel nib with an OB tip. These are often called "war time" nibs as steel was used when gold was sadly redirected to other, non-fountain pen purposes.

Sorry the photo quality is not better. It is winter and natural light is gone before all the destructive forces in my house (aka the little one) pass out.

Hi Aaron,

Is that #9 "wartime nib" attached to the pen I think it is attached to? A 139? If so, good for you, sir. Diminished light this time of year? Oh yes, you mean during the season formerly known as Winter.

Off to Fountain Pen Hospital's seasonal pen fair in a few hours. Haven't received your stocking stuffer list yet.

Best wishes,

Barry

I do, indeed, wish the nib was attached to an MB 139, but alas it is not so. I had cropped the photo to try to stay on the MB topic here, but the pen is a Conid LE made with Tibaldi's Impero celluloid. It does actually have a 139-like form factor, but the filling system, proportions and clip are not as alluring. Still, a solid and well made pen. You can see it on the bottom (again in bad lighting).
