Across the Street

~ Autumn is slow in fully displaying its finery this year. Most trees are clad in their foliage, perhaps awaiting the first downward plunge in temperatures.

This is ideal fountain pen weather, as the moderate temperatures are comfortable for grasping a a pen barrel without any hint of cold.

I'm sketching more than I'm writing, hoping to capture the elusive charm of the campus scenes outside of my windows.

Is it possible to eat shrimp with chopsticks?

And a little eye candy to get things moving:

It is, but you have to get your hands mucky down some point of the line! That is a nice nib, but not sure left-handed people like me can use it!

Laughed reading your reply... :-D

~ Namo:

You've inspired me to provide the genuine Lamy pens and the “local fake” with their moment in the spotlight.

After all, an aspiring “Lamy fan boy” need not keep his treasures under lock and key, unappreciated by others.

For comparison, my original Montblanc fountain pen, a 1980s 149 M nib, has been included.

Ghost Plane's outstanding nibs shown on page 1 of this thread brighten my day whenever I see them.

A left-handed friend here is a daily user of an OBB nib. He's mentioned that it took him about an hour to adjust to it.

THANK YOU, TOM!!!! What a neat way to show off the writing of these special pens and a feast for the eyes first thing in the morning.

The quite different shaping of the nibs is indicative of Montblanc's custom work. The EEF tip looks microscopic with the potential to puncture. Ow! The magnification required to work on such a fine tipped nib must be significant.

I think I remember a post of yours months ago? that beautifully demonstrated the width differential of the small signature and it was dramatic. That's the post that awoke me to the availability of bespoke nibs and the world of difference between them and stock nibs.

Bespoke nibs bring out the best in a photographer who is a writer.

Thank you so much f or your very kind encouragement.

Yubi cleared his afternoon calendar, graciously consenting to a photo session.

You are welcome.

Perhaps, one day I shall order a bespoke nib although I am unsure what to order.

OTOH, what is the difference between a bespoke nib and a nibmeister tuned?

Ordering a flex nib is the only option that comes to mind, since all nib sizes are available as standard and tweaks can be done aftermarket.

Tell Yubi, we are all much obliged. :)

You can go MUCH wider with a bespoke ad you can get a custom feed to ensure ink flow to your specifications. You can also get a 3-tine nib. None really available from a nibsmith.

~ Autumn colors on Halloween are seen in various settings.

One's Bespoke Sketch pen has ample subjects for quick scenes.

Lotus foliage reflected in a pool...vibrant reddish-brown leaves...the half-Moon above gingko foliage turning golden-yellow.

Ideal conditions for using fountain pens outdoors, in the field.

Poor Yubi! You can tell by his expression he is resigned to his fate, trusting that the pen person will be pleased with him when it’s over.
