Enjoying Montblanc Pens — Broad, Oblique, Extra Fine, Le & Bespoke

What is a “GT pen”?

Possibly “gold trim”? Something else?

Tom K.

It is Gold trim and RT/CT is Rhodium/Chrome trim.

OTOH, your photographic and writing efforts bring that 'extra' to the thread to make it more engaging and enjoyable.

RE: Tom Kellie - that's an absolute fact! I really enjoy the photographs of not only Yubi, but the florals and butterflies. His pen collection is astounding. I'd love to see a sample of writing with each of the bespoke nibs on a single page. Those nibs fascinate me.

I am fairly certain Tom will grant your request. :puddle:

OTOH, he has a serious MB fetish. I have a feeling he may have run out of nib sizes to order.

I knew that deep inside you were a Lamy fanboy!

~ Namo:

Your comment above made me laugh out loud. Thank you!

The pen seen in the photo is not a Lamy. It's a fake...a copy branded “绘境”, or “Huijing”.

When I ordered six bottles of ink from a domestic seller, the pen was included as a gift, as is the custom here.

I have four genuine Lamy pens, all of which write far better than the “绘境”. Nevertheless, I appreciate receiving it as a gift.

I keep smiling and laughing...

That's useful to know. Thank you for the explanation.

I'm not adept at using abbreviations or acronyms, which occasionally results in misunderstandings.

Gradually I've realized that Montblanc fountain pens are marketed with trim in several varieties of precious metals.

Thank you for your very kind comments.

At my age (my 65th birthday will be on 4 November) my primary interest is in providing a pleasant perspective on fountain pen use, rather than on providing detailed information.

This thread was started on my birthday last year. It's been great fun to read the comments and see the images from others during the past year.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments.

Yubi is flattered at your warm comments.

I’ll repost the images from post #1888 for your convenience.

The Bespoke nibs are a daily joy to use. All three of them are inked.

There may be yet another Bespoke nib to join them in 2019.

We strive to please.

There's a particular Montblanc Bespoke nib which has been in my thoughts for three years.

Although I've never yet requested one, that may change.

I'm in the thinking it over stage.

Which cobalt blue ink would you suggest? Diamine Presidential Blue comes to mind or I could be way off.

I’m not a huge fan of Diamine, so I’m not familiar with all the shades. Iroshizuku Kon Peki or KWZ Blue #4 would be my first thoughts.

I am definitely warming to the KWZ. Any other suggestions?

Some quotes (3 in French and one in English) written with my O3B of my Blue Hour skeleton on Tomoe River paper and Swan Illusion ink:

~ Cyrille:

Utterly lovely...the ink, the pen, the nib, the handwriting, and the quotes.

You've inspired me.

Thank you!

Thank you Tom for your comment and your nice French quote :) I think BB could be the nib I will choose for my next pen (that I don't know yet which it will be... Heritage 1912 or the Petit Prince 2019 maybe).

~ Cyrille:

A Heritage 1912 or a Le Petit Prince 2019 with a BB nib would be a joy for writing.

Smooth writing, expressive strokes, yet never excessive.

BB nibs work well in any language, including Asian characters.

Like you, I've enjoyed writing with Montblanc Swan Illusion.

~ Ghost Plane and 1nukulus:

While Diamine inks have consistently performed well for me, those I've used were never in the Cobalt Blue range.

Iroshizuku Kon-peki is a well-respected ink.

If I may, Iroshizuku Tsuyu-kusa is also a superb blue ink that's been well-behaved in my Montblanc fountain pens.

Like you, I'm inordinately fond of Cobalt Blue, with glassware and plastic items in that hue scattered around where I'd see them.

Bespoke nibs bring out the best in a photographer who is a writer.

Thank you so much f or your very kind encouragement.

Yubi cleared his afternoon calendar, graciously consenting to a photo session.
