Moving Some Of My Inks Into Akkerman Bottles

Recommended Posts

I have a few inks in large plastic bottles, such as Herbin's Lie de The. I worry that over time, plastic will cause some water evaporation. I asked about it and did not receive a definitive answer. So in the meantime I looked for and got a bunch of empty Akkerman bottles. After thorough soaking, cleaning with an ammonia solution, and a boiled water rinse, I've transferred 100ml of Lie de The to two bottles. I'll do this for some other inks I have. A very cool inkwell concept, and I like the look of the bottles. The original J.Herbin label was also pretty easy to peel off and transfer.

Hey, I am looking at doing the EXACT same thing. Could you please share a little more specifics on how you safely transferred the label? Although I am looking at moving a 30 ml Herbin bottle to the Akkerman 60 (dunno, might get a second just to top it up), I would assume the process is the same. Thanks.

I was going to use a hairdryer to heat the glue under the Herbin label, but at least for the plastic 100ml bottle it turned out to be unnecessary. The label easily peeled off once I lifted a corner and pulled gently.
