Star Made Of Ivory

Recommended Posts

Dear friends, I was seeing my Voltaire pencil right now, and I was noticing that the white is not "so white" as other starts on regular editions. I remember in the past to hear a story that the stars on the certain models were made of ivory. Does someone know or confirm this fact? Just curious about that.

Thank you!

Interesting point. I do notice many stars that income across arent made of resin nor pearl, but considering that ivory is illegal to trade/obtain for the last decade or two I really doubt the Voltaire would have it.

That star is a different color plastic. People mm describe it as ivory in color.

No ivory; early WE Edition pens have an off-white star to resemble a vintage look similar to the color of casein stars from vintage Montblanc pens.

Unfortunately on more recent WE pens this tradition was stopped.

The use of ivory would have been mentioned in marketing somehow.

Cheers

Michael

Zaddick is right. Montblanc never does or did use real ivory on their stars

Montblanc used mammoth ivory on some higher priced LEs; but yes...

Michael refers to the 100 Years Anniversary Edition of 3 x 100 pieces of pens with mammoth ivory stripes on the barrel and cap. But the stars are diamonds and not ivory.

This is correct. On vintage (I mean really vintage ;) ) pens Montblanc used casein for the stars.

Yes, I agree with you, and I am not relating the possibility that ivory may be included on Voltaire WE. Anyway, we know that luxury products from the first quarter of the last decade may be made of ivory, until it was considered illegal.

Interesting to notice that. I was doubting that MB would build models with ivory. Anyway, a star with a vintage white color seams interesting for a new "ressurgence" for the heritage collection (my favorite collection, after the meisterstück).
I am not a big fan of modern pens (like the WE from Tolstoy, or the M). My prefered collection is the writers edition due to my profession (I am a researcher), and the vintage looks of the 90's are the best for me.

I really hope to get a set of the Poe's WE.

Take care!
