Fountain Pen Storage - Vertical Or Horizontal

Pens in rotation are stored nib up. Except for desk pens which are stored nib down because, well, they're desk pens.

I use test tube racks, one padded pen cup, or flower frogs as the mood suits.

For hard starters I keep a small, 1 mL micro-pipette filled with distilled water in a nook on my desk that the cats can't reach. They ignore my pens (fortunately for them) but seek out micro-pipettes to destroy. Recalcitrant pens receive one small drop of water to the tip of the feed and off we go.

Whatever my opinion was last year on what I did, I can safely say now that most inked pens spend most of the time on their sides. When going out the pens in a 2 or 3 pen case will be nib up.
