Ink + Paper Help Appreciated

Hi Everyone,

I'm an orange guy. It is my favorite color.

I have orange clothes.
I have orange shoes.

My daily driver is an orange car.

I have 20+ orange pens.
I have 15+ orange inks.

Now here's the kicker: I do about 90% of my writing on orange index cards. I've used them for years, and I'm never without a handful in my pocket.

Orange index cards are only a small step down in importance to pens in my pocket when I leave in the morning.

But, with so many great orange inks, and mostly using orange paper, I'm really limiting myself.
I've resigned myself to using my orange inks in contexts where I'm writing on white or cream paper, but what about the cards tho?

Can you suggest inks that would look good when used on an orange index card?
I know nothing about color theory, so I don't know what colors might look better/ worse when overlaid on orange.

Usually, I just go with a black or dark blue for readability, but have been trying out some sheening inks too.

Thanks for any suggestions!
greg

Dependent on the shade of orange of the cards, a neutral dark brown, like Diamine Macassar, or Sailor Do-you, would work well.

Perhaps you could post a sample image of your index cards to get an idea of how saturated the color is (pale orange, neon orange, saturated orange?) and what shade it is.

I hope you have a Rhodia Heritage notebook or two: they have orange lining! (But I also think they are unreasonably expensive for what they are, at least in the United States).

Here's a quick phone shot. The orange is pretty bold- pretty pumpkin-ey, not pastel.

For some reason I think some shade of purple ink would look good on this background, not so much orange. Or a brown. Sometimes you need a bit of a contrast to make another color pop into focus.

I like the brown ink suggestion; Yama Guri, Lie de Thé. Black too: Perle Noire.

Purples and black or brown. That could work...

Thanks!

Black,

Blue Black

Brown - dark - Diamine Saddle would be too light,

Akkerman Voorhout Violet is a good dark purple. Lamy Dark Lilac might be dark enough too

Diamine Sherwood Green might be as well.

Have you tried red? for some reason I'm thinking that would be a good combo.

Also, a good dark green, if you have one.

Lots of good ideas here. I guess I've suffered from a failure of imagination.

Have some Diamine Imperial Purple on order, and will be inking a pen up with a dark green later today.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
