Exactly. I do still want them because they can be used to draw with sumi ink. but with a proper fountain pen nib rather than a catchy dip nib. And a Sailor nib at that. I figured I can ignore the wobble. I love the smell of sumi ink.

What does it smell like? I haven't used it but would have thought it smelled like the ink stick one uses when doing Chinese brush painting.

Soot, but nice. I haven't tried an ink stick so cannot compare. I used to use sumi with a brush for life drawing sessions when an art student. I went through litres of it. The slightest whiff takes me instantly back to good memories.

Will work for pens...

I may have to add that to my inks to try list.  Thank you.  Scent is our deepest memory storage sense.

Midori Spring Stationary is available. Smart move, two seasonal collections each year, as it triggers the hoarding gene to respond immediately. Well, it is hormonal or the buying impulse is a spinal reflex, but the order for a pad and set of matching envelopes for each of the four designs is placed.

I ended up ordering 4 GLP The Author notebooks.  Seemed a little like overkill, so  I gave one to my girlfriend for her birthday.   I may have contributed to her habit as well...

I have always liked Rhodia paper but never cared for the dot pads. I recently found these top wire bound lined pads that I really enjoy.

Amber is indeed Queen Pen(& paper)abler! ❤️

I went to MUJI after my jury duty was rescheduled (they had been emailing us the whole time, but then called us to let us know about the rescheduling- a few of us with the new iPhones didn’t get the voicemail until later that day) as it’s a short walk from the courthouse. I had never been and it was so serene and smelled nice! The nice lady in the stationery section was really helpful and I left with an aluminum fp and 2 high quality notebooks- a lay flat grey one, and a black double spiral notebook. I actually want to learn how to draw now because I need to go through more notebooks, but then I will need another one, probably.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Right then. The Great Pen Clean is completed, Log updated and my Currently Inked book has a new tab entitled 2023 to carry forward those which did did not need cleaning. Sigh.

That means I now only have 49 inked pens (and will not admit how many were dried out or nearly so). My records are such that nothing was out of control, other than the total number of pens inked, I knew exactly which ones and where they were. It was a worry.

Do I need to book myself in somewhere?

Will work for pens...

@AmandaW absolutely not. I have more pens waiting for I don’t know how many years to be cleaned. My inked pens are out of control. I let it all get out of hand, and it stayed that way.

I'd say enjoy it (while you can) - why limit yourself artificially? You can always blow off steam on this thread...

Why, where? A spa to recuperate? A writers' and artists' colony since your supplies are at the ready?
