My godfather who was an RAF fighter pilot during WWII said full moon on a clear night called a 'bomber's moon'.  Flying at high altitude, the bomber crews of Bomber Command on their nightly missions over Occupied Europe could look down and see the landscape lit up although dimly which made finding and hitting their targets easier.

That's cool.

I heard that quote in the TV show Air Disasters.

I am ignorant of this show.  Was it good?  Sounds funny, which is somewhat black for a show about disasters.

OK so if the great @amberleadavisand @essayfairethink that would make a good topic, will you help me with the title, and maybe how to start it?   All I can think of is “so you got a new notebook.  How are you going to start it?”

😊 In the beginning, there was a notebook to be begun...

It is also known as May Day. Basically they tell you about the accident, then they show how the investigators went through the physical evidence and interviews to learn what caused the failure and/or crash.

What I find most interesting about the show is the investigative process. If someone says I saw a wheel on fire, they have to see the wheel was genuinely on fire, and why that happened. And if that caused the crash. The way the investigate, because it can be a fleet problem, is to make sure they find the real reason, going through a process. I think that process can apply in normal life i.e. don’t jump to conclusions.

I ordered the newest quarterly edition Field Notes this week. Great Lakes Edition. Bit steeper this go round - $27.95 - but it is 5 books not three. Never been to the region, (ok, I don't count being at Scott AFB in Belleville, IL just across the river from St. Louis, MO when I was a toddler), but something about this edition appealed to me.

Field Notes has a collaboration with the USPS on four notebook editions. One is the Mighty Mississippi. I got those. I also bought Title IX, which was their first. The other two are Pony Cars and Mariachi bands.

Pony Cars? Where do I find it?

Ah man, I have ordered so much stuff over the last few months. We just moved house and my partner said "Are you planning on opening a Stationery shop?

I have no place in the house for it also a lot is up in the loft for now as I am having my office/study space redone.

I have also been buying up various notebooks in an attempt to find a good landscape notebook. So far, not too much success except for one I found on ebay where it is relatively fountain pen friendly and it is lined on both sides.

Now I just bought another fountain pen!!!! HEEELPP!

I found Pelikan sketchbooks in A4, A3, and A5 have pretty fp friendly paper. The larger sizes for sure can be used as landscape books. Of course, they are all blank. But they're nice and white, and the paper takes ink pretty well. I found mine in an office/crafts supply store.

Yep, I got one of those thanks! I just do my own lines on the other side and it works fine.

Yes, you need more storage space.

Are the current Quo Vadis Habana notebooks worth buying one?  I’m interested in Fahrney’s brand of ink, and am considering the 6”x9” Habana.

I bought a single Sanzen (new TR 52 gsm) notebook some time ago, and finally finished the one I was using before, so I've now started using the Sanzen. My first impression, when I numbered the pages, was more than confirmed. I love this paper! It makes even my really cheap pens shine. I've got four more on the way... could not stop myself.

I just ordered some Book Darts and pencil lead from JetPens.  Then to get free shipping I ordered two notebooks:  Cosmo Air Light and MD Cotton.  🤦‍♂️

I'm tempted to buy a notebook with the TR Sanzen paper in order to try it out.  But there aren't enough in the wild yet for the prices to come down (or prices + shipping), so I am still sitting on the fence.  I figure it's only a matter of time until they are more common.

...

Before hitting "Submit Reply"  I decided to see what Nanami is up to, since they've been teasing a replacement of their TR52 #7 notebooks for a while now.  It seems they are now shipping plain notebooks based on TR Sanzen paper.  One more source, and for $28.00 I would do it, but after adding $9.40 of shipping, I'm still sitting on the fence.  https://www.nanamipaper.com/products/copy-of-seven-seas-standard-a5-blank-journal.html

They're still expensive, yes. I paid $24 apiece, and the shipping added up to almost $17. But, each notebook has almost 400 pages of this wonderful paper - I thought it's worth it. It makes even my Parker Quink blue black sit up and perform. And from where I sit, shipping will always add substantially to the cost... But yeah, won't be repeated very soon.

As my current stock is running low, I ordered another boxed set of Amatruda A4 "Amalfi". I just can't get enough of it. The paper has a very unique "hand" (it almost feels like sheepskin), and it takes ink wonderfully. It isn't exactly a budget product, but for special correspondence, it looks and feels wonderful.

Over in the Montblanc forum, @fpupulin has pictures of some very some very impressive calligraphy written on the Amatruda Amalfi paper.
