I'm A Sad, Pathetic Stationery Junkie.

Winning? This sounds like losing to me.

I really like the design of the Moleskine but the paper was so unpredictable and not just for fountain pen performance. I began to experience problems with a variety of rollerballs, gel pens and ball point pens on this paper. Frequent skipping, writing along and then failure to accept ink, broken words. The same writing instruments worked fine on other papers. Every M notebook I used had the same problem. Paper shouldn't be that finicky. Its beyond me. Good bye to them. The paper was ok with pencil.

Fortunately I had bought many of these on clearance so I recouped most of my money.

Find a few of the threads on Moleskine paper and, for many, getting rid of the pads would be a "win"

I have 3 moleskine notebooks which I could not sell as they are now used but I will use Blackwing pencils in them . I have a good supply of other notebooks with no issues.

Turns out the sellers remaining listings were a mistake, except for the travel journal. She turned down my offer and I realized wandering around a foreign country with travel journal in big, bold letters on your diary is maybe not the smartest plan. She had already sold me the other journals listed. Ive officially bought out an entire store.

Shes going to check with her supplier to see if she can get any more for me. Which makes me sound like an actual junkie. But, but... its 60% off!

There are some options for decent paper in NZ. Rhodia pads are available at the dedicated online pen stores (penclassics, inkt) as well as some art shops.

Fitzgerald Taylor sells MD paper. Penclassics have just started stocking a TR notebook, otherwise, you'll need to pay for shipping from Oz.

As for samples, your only option is the US unfortunately. Either that or pen meets.

Thank you for the recommendations!

You're NOT a junkie if you know you can quit whenever you want to... (he says as he runs off to look for more stationary he doesn't need...) :D

OK - I assumed if you had a lot you were the one who actually likes them for fountain pen. This is only a good result if you have reinvested that recouped money in better notebooks.

I have a quantity of 5 brands of good quality notebooks so I'm holding off buying anymore. 🙄

I have resisted blowing a grand on engraved, personalized stationery for the last twenty years, but my 20th wedding anniversary is coming up...

:wallbash: Must Resist! No more stationery unless I start regularly writing actual letters!

I also have a ridiculous collection of all manner of writing pens of all types pencils, sharpened burnt end sticks, etc, if I could stop on this too. What do I need with a dozen Parker Jotters and a tray of refills. TUL, cross, many others. 🙄

Hoarding writing instruments beyond fountain pens? I think that means you've leveled up.

I have been a hoarder...ahem..collector and user of pen pencil and art supplies for decades.

Example: parker Jotters,a set of 4 to a box with regular refills and gel refills: cost at $4.00 for the set. The deals that get me into trouble.

I've never warmed to those scratchy, dry ballpoint pens, but gel pens and rollerballs are another story. And part of me wants a brush pen.

I've resisted that, but I just found three more of my favorite journals on sale even though the last batch hasn't even showed up yet. I think I need an intervention and a some nice, quiet time in rehab. :o

Update: Just ordered 2 more of those personalized journals. Surely this is a cry for help?

On the other hand, my hoard of favorite notebooks should now hold out until I turn almost 60.

I agree .. if I can't decide, the best option is to go buy a couple more to choose from :D

OMG, that dog is cute in your avatar.

I do want to join your club. It occurred to me the only reason I can not be a full fledged member is due to economics. Oh, but if things ever changed . . . move over yaw'll.

My Coop NASA notebook arrived Wednesday. Sad to see it was made in China.

I understand what you mean Lyric. This can become an expensive hobby or whatever we want to call it, as all hobbies can become.

I was at the grocery store, innocently shopping for food. But my list took me by an aisle with seasonal items, and that led to notebooks. And well, there was one with cartoon planets and stars and the Sun and Moon. It called to me, and said this is your only chance.

The paper has colored edges and lines light tones of pink, green, blue and orange. Even though it is wire bound, the pages are perforated. There is a subject rectangle at the top of each page. The notebook is made in Vietnam, and the pages feel kind of smooth. Maybe it will be fountain pen friendly, and I can use it for letters. Its by Top Flight Paper.

Update: an EF nib worked well. There was show through and a touch of bleeding with a Lamy 1.1mm italic nib (ink Rohrer & Klingner Alt Goldgrün).

Just ordered TWO Bond Travel Gear journals with the 68gsm Tomoe River in A5 size. Why TWO? Buying one would have cost me another $5 in shipping. So why not spring for a second journal to get free shipping. Might as well get something for my money. Sounds reasonable, right?
