OK - it is Sunday evening here in hot Melbourne. Just realised I have gone through a whole weekend and not looked at stationery anywhere - not even online. I am committed to buying something this week just to make sure my addiction is not waning. Something. Anything.

Very poor effort inkypete. Lift your game please.

I havent bought anything for 6 weeks and seriously, its becoming more difficult, not easier. An FPN friend emailed me tonight to tell me shed weakened after a month and had bought some stationery today, so it was ok if I did too. I ALMOST bought some Nanami Seven Seas notebooks as I *only* have 6 in the cupboard but I finally resisted due to the prohibitive cost of shipping. I think I NEED some Midori notebooks as well as some B5 Kokyuo ones.

I am trying to save as much money as possible for my trip to Japan at the end of this year.

Didn't know I needed it until I saw a post - with a link, of course - saying it was on sale! :)

Oh yes!! And what was it? I think I needed it too. :P

I ended up buying some Manuscript pens because they were on sale. :)

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Milligram has some great prices on clairefontaine - especially pocket and A5 roadbooks. Didn't need them but ordered to thank them for having such a great price. It was the right thing to do.

If you're prepared to buy five or maybe ten units of the Rhodia A5 notebooks from Milligram at a time, its prices aren't bad, especially when coupled with 15%-off-sitewide discount codes it offers from time to time.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I'm just happy to have a local supplier. They are the importer/agent too for most of those brands. The discounts are nice too and I agree - load up when the offers are there. Must say their service is very good too. They now have three retail stores in Melbourne which are great for browsing items before you buy. One coming soon to Sydney I believe.

Well, in this age of global access to retailers (even if, in some cases, a purchaser has to engage reshippers to receive the goods and then forward them, at his/her additional expense), for me it comes down to the local stockists' asking prices. Paying an extra 10% or so (compared to the effective cost, after shipping and tax implications, of online ordering from overseas and importing items for personal consumption) might be well worth it for the protection of the Australian Consumer Law, but for stationery such as journals, notepads and ink, the advantage is not significant.

Once upon a time, when the Australian dollar was worth even more than the US dollar, the only stockists in Sydney I knew of for Pilot Iroshizuku inks – the pen specialist store (Pen-Ultimate?) up on Level 2 in the QVB, and then Kinokuniya in The Galeries Victoria – wanted in excess of $50 for a 50ml bottle; I got mine from Engeika and it cost me $17 a bottle shipped directly from Japan. For the price difference, I can wait for the ink to arrive.

These days, with Milligram selling them for as low as $23.76 a bottle in spite of the weakness of the Australian dollar, it's a boon to fans and users of those inks. In terms of speed of delivery for online orders, they're good, but I can also order stuff on Rakuten Global Market on a Monday and receive it by Friday shipped all the way from Japan by EMS service. Milligram sometimes dispatched orders on the second business day after an order is placed, and then it takes a couple of days to arrive here in Sydney, so that works out to about the same lead time to receive.

Must say their service is very good too.

Yes, quite. I never imagined I'd buy so much stuff from them, and get to 'Friends for Life' status in the span of a few months, but they are so very good and therefore I did.

Good on you inky. I’ve still bought nothing, so I am letting the team down badly. It hasn’t been too difficult as I’ve been super busy and haven’t had time to go on this forum, although my Wishlists at 3 suppliers are getting very long. I almost weakened for the Milligram sale last week but as I’m out of the country at the moment I decided I could wait until next time.

I'm going to move to the other end of the world this summer so I haven't bought any stationery item in months. Withdrawal symptoms have kicked in a while ago. Can't wait to get settled in in my host country and replenish my stock!

PS: Three weeks ago I ordered the following items, are they considered stationery? If so, I broke my streak..

I almost weakened for the Milligram sale last week

I ordered ten Rhodia Bloc No.16 80g/m2 7mm-lined notepads (to qualify for the specific product's volume discounts), and topped it up with a couple of Papier Tigre A6 notebooks that's already discounted by 75%, bringing the total to A$59.57 after the site-wide, per-order 15% discount to qualify for free shipping.

I once posted a complete inventory with photos of my 200 plus new notebooks and photos of 60+ filled notebooks. Have sold off most of my Moleskine notebooks and ordered more midori 003 notebooks. I ordered some supplies and added the extra notebooks to get free shipping. At least I am not as bad as a friend who orders all kinds of stuff and pays overnight shipping cause he wants it right now.

Thank you for the support! I've never bought cutesy stationery, I was afraid of my course mates making fun of me, calling me childish and such, so this is me treating myself!

If you want, here are some links:

Stickers. Sticker flakes. Washi tape. Sticky memo pads/Post-it pads. Sticky bookmarks (They look too small to write anything on them but I use them to write the titles of paragraphs or the definitions of words I dont know and I don't want to write these notes directly on the book I'm reading. Fundamental item for a literature student!).

Have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. Good excuse to pick up something. Pen, ink, paper or some combination. Better go look.

I have just returned home after being away and realised I actually have 12 (TWELVE) Nanami Seven Seas Notebooks (6XCrossfield and 6XLined ones). Oops! At 480 pages each, I think I’m fine for a little while.
