You need to make a trip/pilgrimage to a Daiso store in Japan.

I would love that. A friend was there last year and spent days wandering around multi level stationery stores. Maybe one day.

Daiso is opening it's first store in Utah this year. Currently have plans for three. I have seen job postings for a manager for at least the first one and thought I saw postings for the other two. Midvale, Provo/Orem area and Clearfield (near Hill AFB), although I have only seen an address for the Midvale store. Will have to check it out once it opens.

A college friend of mine just sent me a box of stationery goodies from Daiso. I was surprised with the quality of the paper and the amount of Sanrio that they carry.

I was given a beautiful A4 Clairefontaine multicolored paper grid ruled spiral notebook today by a fellow fp club member today.

My wife and I tend to explore cities on foot when we travel (but of course we take public transport to get us to particular neighbourhoods/suburbs/districts in the first place, if the destination area is too far from our accommodation), and one day in Osaka we literally walked into seven different Daiso stores! They're more common and ‘frequent’ there than 7-Eleven stores here, even in Sydney CBD or somewhere like Chatswood.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I am a bit envious as an Internet search reveals that there are no Daiso stores in Boston or anywhere in Massachusetts.

We just got one in Oregon, so I think they’re making their way around the country.

Once upon a time, there were three Daiso stores within walking distance from where we live in Sydney, and I thought that was a lot. Once has since closed, not that long after shops were allowed to reopen after COVID-19 was ‘under control’. (Not much of a consolation price, a TK Maxx opened up in the same neighbourhood, although not in the same premises as the defunct Daiso store; that property hasn't been repurposed for anything but stayed vacant to-date after the store closure, as far as I know.)

It absolutely blew my mind that there could be a Daiso store every two or three city blocks in Japan.

Daiso now has three stores in Western Australia. None are particularly close to where I live, but then not much else is either. It's an event to go. 🥳

Will work for pens...

My 'local' closed a little while ago and my next fave (Doncaster Westfield) has just closed. The Northland store closed a year or so ago too. They seem to open and shut very quickly.

I hope they come to my metro area.

Daiso is a discount store, the most popular in Japan, so no surprise there are many.

On a side line, I went to a mall to buy some things and found a Flying Tiger where I got several more B7-sized notebook sets.

Of note, just in front of it there was a B&M Alibaba store. Mostly the typical junk one sees on Alibaba, cheap electronics, cheap toys, etc. I wonder how long may it last in such a place.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.
