They do, or perhaps did - I have an A5 dot grid book from then that is a sort of copy of the Leuchttuerm 1917.

I can not recall where I got it from but I think it was via Amazon

Oooh. I will have another check. The only thing I could find on their website was a Memo sized dotgrid called Bullet. Maybe they stopped making them ☹️

Legend! I've added one to my wish list. Birthday is coming and the inlaws love an Amazon wishlist. Stuck a couple of Jinhao 80s on there as well for nib swappage shenanigans.

My Sakae TR and Stalogy came in, the Sakaes are nice for a slim soft notebook, basic but very well put together. The Stalogy I'm not so sure of - it doesn't seem inclined to open flat and I'm not quite sure why they are so expensive (got mine on sale)... oh well I have one finally so I can test it properly.

I've also majorly fallen down an ink acquisition rabbithole. Got 19 bottles + 2 samples on the way. In my defence, I haven't bought ink in probably over a year. As I seem to have taken up some kind of halfassed Morning Pages practice, I expect my broad nibs will need more regular refreshment. On the topic of broad nibs, I may have preordered a screaming pink Benu from Endless Pens as well. In this case I have no defence, other than I am apparently helpless in the face of pink sparkly.

I me5 up with a friend downtown and we went to Kinokinuya and MUJI. I bought some Suica penguin paper bookmarks and a notepad featuring a penguin disguised as a ghost at the former, and a 5 pack of notebooks that were recommended to me and 2 high quality paper notebooks.

Today I started a new notebook and then flushed and refilled my 6 fountain pens in operation (the rest may get their turn in time). Ahhhhhh - the simple pleasures of life.

I went to Walmart for one thing, which was Goetze’s caramel creams. But my feet headed towards office supply.

I could have bought a 3-pack of National Park covers notebooks for less, another small notebook for less. Instead I got the one notebook that cost what the two I mentioned would have. It was the one that wanted to go home with me. I also got the letter opener which was $1.38.

This notebook was the only one with the paper weight indicated. It seems to have replaced the Exceed brand for Walmart.

edited to add the letter opener works really well.

Is that paper different from the Bank paper we got from the Yamamoto order?

I didn’t get any at the time. I chose something else, Jumpacku roll, maybe.  Yamamoto makes 2 kinds of bank paper, a light 48.2 gsm and the premium 87.9 gsm, which one did you get? Oh, Aliexpress has a ton of chipboard for your machine in different thickness and colors.

I got the 48.2gsm Bank paper.  It was the only Bank paper I saw when I ordered.  I’m guessing you now have the heavier paper.  At 87.9gsm, it’s Clairefontaine thick.  How does deal with colors and shading?  Is the surface slick like the thin Bank paper is?

Here’s a new topic.  I was looking around the Net at Tomoe River paper and there seems to be a discrepancy with the use of the term FP.  Some sources say FP signifies the top of the line paper, others say it stands for the original TR paper from machine #9.  And another source recommended trying all 3 types of Tomoe River paper.  With that said, what’s Tomoe River-S?

Aliexpress Chipboard:  I’ll check it out, thanks for the tip.  So far I found that for thin A5 size notebooks, I like, with 30 or 40 pages, 22Pt chipboard works out great.  I have 30Pt and 50Pt and the next notebook I make is going to be 50Pt, but I have a feeling that it might be too thick.  We’ll see. 😀👍

I think both are in the Yamamoto Paper Sampler I bought last year. I will look for that and try both and see how they compare.

@Misfit, I have had one of those black things for decades and never realized what it is.  😹

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Well, part paper acquisition and part ink. Ordered some Christmas cards, since I was on a 30 day Prime trial, and while I was at it, picked up two bottles of ink. A bottle of Waterman Serenity Blue to replace one that I just emptied (new one is #3), and a bottle of Waterman Mysterious Blue. My first bottle of it. Serenity Blue went in the Skyline and Mysterious Blue in the no name pen with Waterman 14k nib.......

I like Waterman ink. Affordable and nice colour saturation. I tend to mx my colour - 40% serenity blue and 60% purple.

Currently on a hunt for a uk stationery brand Silvine’s writing pads but apart from overpriced online sellers that would cost a small fortune, I am not having much luck. I have also snail mailed the company, and contacted them through their contact me. I have not heard back. I have a couple of Silvine Exercise books and a student notepad. They seem ok with fountain pens. I just want an A5 writing pads but to go with them.

Strange that they have not responded, maybe recovering from the Budget shock!?! 😁

I have made contact with them in the past and they have always responded promptly and most generously - I asked about a certain type of paper once and they sent me an entire notebook of it, for free!

Have you tried Nero's Notes site as he does keep some stock of Silvine stuff. I normally buy online but occasionally I have seen their stuff in retail outlets, very occasionally.

This is what I know about Tomoe River paper: there were always 2 machines, #7 made the 52 gsm and #9 made the 68gsm. #7 started having problems and was on the struggle bus for a long time. Sometime in the end of the last decade the manufacturer decided that the maintenance #7 required was getting to be too difficult. The 52 gsm was then also made on #9 (“new” TR 52). The paper recipe and machine (s?) were sold to Sakae. Sakae makes 52 gsm Tomoe River Successor (TR “S”).  Meanwhile, the 68 gsm is in some sort of purgatory. I have old stock, some that was sold to me as new but turned out to be old, and there’s talk that 68gsm is gone and that Sakae is trying to develop a higher gsm TR paper.
