Oops,  yes that’s the website I meant that @Claes provided. I’m new at putting the link in as a word.

Hi, I have shopped with this website, and they have Quo Vadis Habana notebooks.

Evidently the paper quality has changed.

Thanks!

I know the paper changed from 90g white to 85g cream back in the early 2010s. Did it change yet again?

These finally arrived. Postage from USA to UK is expensive so I had them shipped to a family member who was coming back to the UK for a visit and they brought these with them.

Edit: Forgot to say what they are!!!  Onion Skin Journal notebooks!

I found them. The name of the journal was actually sufficient to find them on the web.

I fell hard for them. Got one coming...

I’m a sad pathetic stationary junkie like you. I’ve always been a sucker for a new notebook or to try out some new paper, but after a while you develop preferences for paper and notebooks.  For me the key factor was “Feather Resistance” followed by the ability to show shading, sheen and outlining.

In Notebooks I gravitated toward “thin” notebooks in the twin ring or spiral style.  As I continued to amass notebooks I found a type that I liked.  It was a thin, blank cover, twin ring notebook... so that was what I was on the lookout for.

The problem was I could never find a thin twin ring notebook with the paper I wanted, Cosmo Snow, Iroful, and Tomoe River so I bought a Binding Machine.   HappyMe.

Now I can make my own notebooks in any size, with as many or as few pages as I want, with any covers I want and with my favorite paper.... it was always about the paper!

@USG, this notebook binding activity sure looks fun and no compromise on the paper.  Yes!

There was a time when I took my paper into a “print & copy” shop to be bound with plastic spirals. That worked pretty well, but it’s nothing like having your own machine at home.

Currently most used pen: Lamy 2000, Makrolon <F> -- filled with Lamy Pink Cliff ink

Inexpensive as well.  😀

The latest is an Iroful Notebook

I saw your gallery a few days ago and was intrigued by this pen - what is it?

I ask because, some years ago I had a pen made for me and it closely resembles your pen pictured. The clip is a little different but other wise it is very similar.

When I retired from my job I brought home about 200 sheets of onion skin, almost all of it gone now... actually made some notebooks out of that, and loved it. Been looking for something like that ever since (it's going to be 12 years ago this december), so yes, that is lovely paper to write on...

  • 2 weeks later...

Started a new Field Notes about a week ago. It's use is such it gets about 12 or 13 single line entries per day. So it takes a while to fill. Oh, and a new composition book for home use, and about to start one for work notes/scribbles. It's already ready to go. Have a few final pages in the last one to go.

Yes, my remailer emailed me that it's here. I just haven't had the opportunity to go pick it up. Probably tomorrow. I'll definitely report back... they were pleasant to deal with. I have great expectations.

I bought some Life Bank Paper to see if I like it as much as the Mitsubishi. I read that it shows off many ink properties really well, and doesn’t feather.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery
