I'm A Sad, Pathetic Stationery Junkie.

I have over 200 new notebooks of various sizes and brands and have walked away from a few potential buys lately. This must be some kind of apocalyptic thing when none will be available.

Presently journaling in a pocket Moleskine Blue VAN GOPH MUSEUM. From July 28 now on page 66. At least i use them.

I recently found out that a friend's stationery weakness is notebook dividers for 3-ring notebooks. This isn't my thing, but I understand and can enable. :) Does anyone have a good US resource about where to buy pretty/interesting/durable/nice/fun divider sets? Thanks.

That would need it's own cataloging system, apart from the space to prevent damage. :D

I have a modest selection of A4 loose sheets and tend to print my own grid/dot patterns.

I accept my amateur status. I never claimed more in my first post here. People were waiting in the car for me when I was at Office Depot.

I want some of the Tul add-ons for my Circa notebooks. But if I like any of their non-leather cheaper Tul books, I might get one. However, I’m waiting for a sale. So yep, amateur.

Waiting for a sale is prudent. If you hoard up in the sale, you are upgraded to pro.

This thread should win thread of the year if there was such an award.

Was in Muji recently and picked up a couple of A5 binders, refills and dividers. My wife asked - didn't you just buy some of them last time? What could I say? Married 39 years and she finally questions why I buy so much stationery. What could I say? I panicked a little. Ummm - these are for a new project I am working on, dear. OK she said. Phew.

You realise that she really didn't believe you. She has simply stored this up to be used when required.

Recently counted 60 filled notebooks of various, sizes. About 220 new notebooks of different brands and sizes on hand. Where and when does the Notebooks Anonymous Group meet?

My wife wants me to throw out the filled notebooks, about 25.

To me it would be like throwing out 25 family keepsakes. Life is short so preserve the memories and thoughts. What got me started in journaling practice was my Grandmothers autograph book from the late 1800s with notes and autographs of her friends and family. priceless to me.

Oh-oooh. You need to find s.th. she hoards. Or s.th. you can even accuse her of hoarding. Defense must be turned into offense in order to be less obvious. Then it's her turn again.

Or, even better, gift a beautiful journal to her. Make her use it, love it. No way she'll want to throw that away then. And the next one ...

(Don't come complaining when both of you are buried in notebooks soon. )

If that were the case, I am sure the arsenal would have been used over the 39 years and the stationery collecting would have ended.

Hence, I say, just minor turbulence. Keep Calm and Hoard On !! OTOH, do keep an eye out for a hurricane... just in case.

I actually do look into my old journals from time to time because they are more than just pages of words. They are illustrated with photos, art works in sketches, small paintings, art photos, digital art, a variety of art related ephemera, and paper ephemera.

My addiction struck again yesterday. Most young people today do not know what people did before computers and the internet. How did people get anything done, stay organized?

Back in the early 1980s, paid for by my employer, I used an executive scan card system with small cards to track projects that went into a scan card binder. I used it for several years. Yesterday I found one at a thrift store complete and with an extra box of cards. In the 80s these were very expensive. No idea what I am going to do with this but it is nostalgic.

I forgot to mention there were some old documents in it about student statistics and where this scan card system notebook was being used: the Air Force Academy.

Now thats a cool find and story. I guess I need to go to some thrift stores. After donating at Goodwill, went in to look around. Someone had donated a Koch (as in Koch brothers) notepad that included plastic covers and elastic pen loop. Cost a $1, so I had to get it. Besides, the family tree on my Dads side has Koch from Kansas by way of Germany. No relation to those Kochs as far as I know.

Edited to add I also bought a stationery set that had all but one sheet and envelope that day.

I like paper even more than I like pens, so I tend to stay away from this thread in order to save money. I had to stop watching Azizah's paper reviews because every time she crinkled something, I wanted to buy it.

No way, do NOT throw them away! Look at this thread for instance:

https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/310197-fate-of-your-pages/

Especially at C. S.' replies. Even if you don't look at your pages ever again (some I do, some I don't), you can leave them to posterity, whoever they might be.

Also, 25 notebooks, wow! What format are they? I filled 18 (I think?) A5 notebooks journaling. But in the first ones I wrote pretty big, I was in elementary school.

Reading this thread I was thinking, compared to some of the folks on here, I'm an absolute beginner. But then I went to look at the shelf on which I keep all my unused notebooks, and among the Moleskines and cheap ring-bound notebooks from Woolworth and experimental purchases from ebay and stuff from Muji and odd items bought in old stationery stores on my travels, I noticed two fat, red exercise books I stole from the stationery cupboard at the school I left 44 years ago.

Lined paper makes a prison of the page.

So how many new notebooks are in your stash if I dare ask? I have well over 200 waiting to be used. But it sounds like you are infected with the notebook virus.

Difficult. They're divided between two shelves and mixed up with some other things – large envelopes and folders all piled on top. It would need a major tidy-up to pull it all out and count them, but there's nowhere near 200. Maybe 30 or 40, including some sketchbooks.
