Pilot Decimo Writes Too Wet

I splurged and bought a Pilot Decimo with a fine nib recently. The problem is it puts a pretty heavy line down regardless of ink brand or formula. It's more like a German fine or Japanese medium! When I open it up , there is ink on the outside the nib unit. Cleaned it off, put it back together, checked it 10 minutes later and ink on the nib unit again. The converter is solidly in.

Any ideas? It's still under warranty.

I’d return it or get it checked out. It sounds unusual, because in my experience these days Pilot nibs tend to be set up in the factory to write on the dry side. It would be pretty easy for the seller to swap in a different nib unit.

I'm using Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo in my decimo and its a fairly wet writer but I like it that way.

If Pilot doesn’t help, there are nib technicians who can correct it, or you can buy another nib unit separately.

So I will admit I bought it on Amazon. Contacted them and they sent a free replacement despite it being past the return date!!! The replacement lays down a much finer line than the original. So much happier.

thanks all!
