Prototypes Kingsize Bulkfiller In Japanese Hard Rubber

I had no doubt that the clip was solid. It's only that it resembles a folded clip.

Conid has some nice videos showing their manufacturing process that I would highly recommend. I think they even show the clip being made.

2nd Olive

3rd Blue

 

Clip preference: Rounded

 

[As for older prototypes, I still love the striated ebonite, carbon and Arco celuloid.]

I'd go for the straight clip, personally. Rounded doesn't go well with the flat top design. So maybe round clips for the streamlined models?

Rounded, if I had to pick, bUT I would prefer a square top (at thr clip ring) and rounded bottom.

Given that Conid does hundreds of tests on each bulkfiller model for reliability and functioning using multiple prototypes, if a new untested rod stock is used, and is not suitable enough for bulkfiller, may result in the pen spending more time in Belgium than it would with you. No?

I'm aware Conid made a few Bulkfillers in material supplied by the customer.

However I d'ont know if they are still prepared to do so.

Just asking Werner can do no harm !

Hi Mew,

After the experience Conid had with the orange hard rubber Monarch, which showed a risk for light ink absorption at the "section front" ( which is dipped in the ink during filling ) all new materials are profoundly tested in view of this risk.

Given the Japanese hard rubber I've used for these prototypes equally contain a high percentage of color pigments, there are equally potential risks for gradual ink absorption.

Although my tests revealed the superior Japanese material is much less sensible for this problem, I've decided not taking the risk.

This is the reason why I've decided to make the section in black hard rubber on these pens.

However CONID need to distinct further the way they are through exclusvity

As the Lapis pen you presented recently and for example a carbon or stainless line !

Any hope for this in the future ?

 

However I'am adicted to the demo-line, technique, art and craft...beauty they have it all.

I enjoy them everyday !

Hi all,

Attached a picture showing 3 new Kingsize prototypes I've just finished in my shop.

These pens are made in the beautiful Japanese "Nikko" ebonite.

As you can see the material features a nice - kind of pearly - color pattern which I surely like!

The pattern is however less visible on the bleu version…

What do you think, should I try to convince Conid in producing these?

The Conid is built very well. I have a kingsize as an every day carry and it has taken abuse like falling of table/desk/dropped and shows no visible scratches on it.
