Wahl Eversharp Machine Turned Patterns

Recommended Posts

There is a bar that slides on to tabs on the inner part of the lever. It is easy to replace once you source the part. Just look for a trashed Wahl metal pen in a similar length to harvest the part.

It just so happens that I had such a bar in my parts bin. Slid right in and worked like a charm.

This is by far the simplest mechanism I've seen yet. I would never have figured it out on my own; my mind was heading in the opposite direction towards unnecessary complexity.

Many thanks, Greenie.

Just acquired a pattern of Wahl Metal pen I have not seen before. Even with a deep dive into some vintage literature on the PCA site and also with Pen Hero's outstanding summary, I am not sure what the pattern is. The pen is a #2 full length pen with a Wahl 2 nib. I have the matching pencil and box as well. Please click on the pictures for more detail.

It reminds me of Charlie Brown's shirt.

Chevron, I suppose.

Very nice set, btw. Beautiful condition.

There's no catalog reference to Chevron that I am aware of. Does not mean it's not the name, but no reference.

The Check/Unique pattern is more of a chevron pattern. This is a nice zigzag patter, but that name is already used for another pattern of Wahl metal pens.

I therefore declare the place holder name to be the "Charlie Brown" pattern of the Wahl metal machine turned pen.

I will gladly drop this term for any name that is obviously better, or certainly if we can find a reference for this pen.

Or, if you prefer, this is like the "Ripple" pattern, but turned the other direction. Axial Ripple? Sideways Ripple? Nah! "Charlie Brown"
