Out Comes The Orange Ink...

Hi Halloween,

It is a trick of the light, which was wonderfully orange, and totally suitable.

The Autumn Oak is a tad darker / browner than the Inferno Orange.

Inferno is of course one of the Shimmer inks, but seen front on, it's a nice bright orange without the sparkles. Also, the Night Sky and Red Lustre are Shimmer inks.

I would have tried for some sort of comparison for you, but the day has been VERY gloomy.

Malc

Understood. Thanks for the response!

Speaking of orange inks, how does Sailor Kin-Mokusei compare to Diamine Autumn Oak? I find Autumn Oak much too light, but the color is nice. Diamine Pumpkin works much better, but I'm not sure about the color :P

Could anyone give a writing sample with these two (Kin-Mokusei & Autumn Oak)?

A better day today, so here's a comparison.

Sadly, what my camera/computer sees, isn't quite what I see.

The Autumn Oak is more of an orange-brown, while the Inferno is a definite orange. Anyway...we gave it a shot. thumbup.gif

Hi Almu:

Here is a quick "face-off" between Autumn Oak and Kin-mokusei on white Tomoe River paper:

In case you like sheen, here's the glamour shot:

I know the feeling. I have to do a lot of color balancing after I take the photo to get the colors close to what I see. Thanks for the great samples!

A splash of Lucky Orange with bleach:

WOW. Brilliant. I received a sample of the Lucky Orange, and to my eye, it seemed almost indistinguishable from Diamine Pumpkin. But I may not have given it a more thorough examination...

Does it look as similar to you as it did to me?

I don't have Pumpkin with me right now. My splash cards tell me they are indeed very similar.

:notworthy1: Thank you so much, those photos are great!! :notworthy1:

Looks like Kin-Mokusei is quite a bit more yellow than Autumn Oak. I'm surprised those Sailor swabs are not nearly as pale as Diamine, though! That's the only problem I have with Autumn Oak, it tends to look really pale unless I use a dip pen :P

If you have an app that can gray balance shoot ion an 8x10 gray card. It will do a lot for the color balance.
