It seems Diamine enjoys celebrating its anniversary. This year they added another eight inks to their line of 150th anniversary inks.

The inks are sold in nice and quitye comfortable in use triangular bottles.

I can't say I'm thrilled with this one. It behaves well on most papers. The flow is good and the ink feels wet - just as I like it. The thing is color is boring and unisnpiring.

It has zero water resistance.

On some paper (Tomoe River) sheen is visible.

I may be in the minority, but this one looks very tempting. Thanks as always for the review. And, well, not....

Great review and I liked this colour right from the start. I just never got round to having it in the rotation!

I actually really like the color on the splash and the towel droplet. If it has any kind of a "glow" quality to it that ASA blue has, then I think it's a lovely color to write with (I don't mean actual glow, just that ASA Blue is quite bright, almost glowing when it's less saturated).

I'm quite drawn to this blue, it appears to have just enough pop on some of the scans to make it interesting.

  • 3 years later...

It's been around for a few years now, I like it (at least its look and behaviour), and I'm only mentioning that here because Sailor's Sailor -- issued only a half a year or so, I think -- looks similar. I don't have that yet. Any comparisons out there ??

If you had been immersing yourself in green inks for the past five years this blue ink would perk up your ink life

Sorry for necro-posting, but this thread seems to have resurrected.

Actually, I hadn't been immersing myself in green inks (I'm very fussy about greens, it turns out). I was always a blue ink girl, even with ballpoints.

I ended up getting a bottle of Tudor Blue, even though it seemed similar to Oxford Blue at first. But I'm happy to have both, now. :D

ah, but Oxford looks darker and this one slightly more purplish?

I like Oxford so much, how does this compare to Diamine Sapphire, is it darker?

(I'm a blue ink boy...)

Yup, Tudor is by no means similar to Oxford. Oxford is much darker, almost blacker. Sapphire (Diamine's) is way lighter (although not all that much brighter) than both. No red, no black. Actually almost chalky. I mean, at least a nice gem has no chalk in it.

I have the feeling that Sailor's Sailor is even brighter, not quite as neon-eye-wrecking as BSB, but sort of in the direction of D's Mr Pen Radiant Blue.

If you're interested in any comparison of the above-mentioned candidates, you might want to take a peek here.

thank you, Lapis!

that is VERY useful, quick and easy and differences very evident.

It's easy to say that Tudor is on my wish list now.

You're very welcome, but as indicated there, you might also end up needing to add Horizion and Azure #3 to your list (if you don't already have them). I'll add scans of those there in about 12 h. :)
