Of the pens I own, my favorite transparent ones are my F-C p66 and my Nemosine Singularity demonstrator. Both are great as eyedroppers.

Yes! p66 is great! I need to try Nemosine soon :)

TWSBI 580 Diamond is my favorite. Also, surprisingly, Lamy vista. In photos pen just didn't look great, but when I went to Lamy store and saw it, I bought it. It just much better looking in person than in photos.

TWISBI has many clear pens. Diamond looks nice!

Generally I love all Lamy's :) (I haven't tried the retractable pen though...)

FC Stabilis 66 in antique glass. I also like my twsbi mini quite a bit.

I love p66 but since I use the pen at home, Stabilis 66 might have been the better choice for me as it holds more ink. Antique glass is a great material :)

Is the TWISBI mini the one with threaded barrel to secure the cap posted? I love threaded barrel so that I don't lose the cap easily :D

At this time, I have two: an orange tip Pilot Prera CM, and a smoke Nemosine Singularity 0.8mm stub. Of them, I prefer the Pilot; it behaves better overall, and unlike the Singularity, its cap lip has not suffered cracks and chips.

My 90s Pelikan M200, which has a wonderful ink window, is going to be on hiatus until such time as I can afford a replacement cap. At that point, it'll become a desk denizen, as its cap has been replaced a half-dozen times or more, at no charge, by Charpak and Pelikan SRW. Such free replacements will not be forthcoming any longer, and I just have no idea what it is that I do that leads to cap failure.

I love the color tips on the Preras. They make the pens look delicious :)

The cap cracks you are experiencing on M200... is that from posting the cap, or is that coming from other design failure?

Dream, take one step at a time and achieve. :)

Definitely my Pilot custom heritage 92. Clean lines, sleek, modern, classic style, and a lovely springy nib.

I don't have Pilot pens, but heard their nibs are superb. Which nib type do you have?

The only Japanese pen I have is Sailor Pro Gear but in Naginata Togi...their medium writes like a broad lol

I have the stock medium on mine, but sometimes I use the soft fine-medium that I got on the custom heritage 91.

I have s Sailor pro gear slim, but I find their nibs stiff compared to the Pilot.

I have three. I have a Model 02 in Antique Glass, a Pocket 66 in Ice, and 45XLV in Amber. I like the looks of the Antique Glass the best. The Amber is the easiest to clean. The Ice looks cool but is the hardest of the three to clean.

I have all three setup as eyedropper fill. The texture in the barrel of the pen is mesmerizing to watch the ink slosh around in.

I wonder how the pen writes... this pen will be perfect to distribute to school students to learn how to write with a fountain pen :)

For me it's the Franklin Christoph 02 Smoke & Ice. It's not absolutely transparent but it begs to be used as an eyedropper. Practically speaking my Pilot CH 92 Orange Fine Medium sees more use, but I rather like the FC 02 Smoke & Ice.

The Nemosine Singularity Clear Transparent is a good contender - it's inexpensive and the 0.6 stub is quite nice.

Inked: Aurora Optima EF (Pelikan Tanzanite); Franklin Christoph Pocket 20 Needlepoint (Sailor Kiwa Guro); Sheaffers PFM I Reporter/Fine (Diamine Oxblood); Franklin Christoph 02 Medium Stub (Aurora Black); Platinum Plaisir Gunmetal EF (Platinum Brown); Platinum Preppy M (Platinum Blue-Black). Leaded: Palomino Blackwing 602; Lamy Scribble 0.7 (Pentel Ain Stein 2B); Uni Kuru Toga Roulette 0.5 (Uni Kuru Toga HB); Parker 51 Plum 0.9 (Pilot Neox HB)

I like a clear pen if there's something interesting to look at inside. So something like a Vac700, perhaps a Conid Bulkfiller. I've got a Pelikan L65 in the mail, looking forwards to seeing what's going on inside that fella.

@bhavini If I were you I would not buy a dip-pen. They don't replicate the flow characteristics of fountain pens, and they will work well with some inks that will clog fountain pens. Instead of a dip-pen, I would buy a relatively-inexpensive pen that is easy to clean. E.g. a Parker Frontier and a converter for it. Its nib/feed-unit can be unscrewed from the pen, so cleaning it is very very easy.
    • finzi 18 Apr 21:44
@bhavini I ordered a Sailor Hocoro today, to use for testing. I’ll let you know what it’s like. You can get different nib sizes for it, so maybe more versatile than a glass dip pen.

    • Penguincollector 15 Apr 22:48
@bhavini, I really like the Sailor Hocoro dip pen. It’s inexpensive, easy to clean, and if you get one with a nib that has a feed, you can get quite a few lines of writing before you have to dip again. I have a fude nib, which I use for swatching and line variation while writing.

What's a relatively cheap tool for a newbie to use to try out new inks, without inking up a pen? I've a bunch of ink samples on their way but I just want to play around with them before I decide on which ones I want to buy more of for writing. I've never used anything except a fountain pen to write with ink before.
    • Penguincollector 15 Apr 17:03
Hello @Jeffrey Sher, pen club information can be found in the Pen Clubs, Meetings, and Events sub forum. If you use Google site search you can find information specific to Israel.

It's gonna end where 1929 left us: a world war, shambles, and 'growth by rebuilding'. That's the conservative view of cycling history --and the big plan. Even if our generations perish.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:49
Of course trade wars are much, more important than the prices of consumer products. The true intention is to weaken the dollar, so that the Chinese start selling their US held debt. But the dollar being the defacto world reserve currency, it doesn't lose value that easily. So the idea is to target trade through artificially raising prices. Problem is, inflation will skyrocket. Good luck with that.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:33
      Guess who loses
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:30
In Europe, the only (truly) American produced brand is Esterbrook AFAIK. Tariffs will make Esterbrook products compete on the same level as some high-end European brands (let's say Aurora), while clearly the product is manufactured to compete on a much lower price level.
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:24
So let's say you want to buy a Montblanc or whatever. You pay the current tariff on top of the usual price, unless your local distributor is willing to absorb (some) of the difference
    • lamarax 11 Apr 0:20
Tariffs are paid by the importer, not the exporter.
    • TheQuillDeal 10 Apr 2:44
Can anyone explain how the tariff war will affect fountain pen prices??

    • T.D. Rabbit 2 Mar 10:20
@Astronymus I could use cornstarch... Or i could distill it and make it very concentrated.
    • T.D. Rabbit 2 Mar 10:20

    • lamarax 17 Feb 18:05
Cappuccino should work. Frothy milk also helps to lubricate the nib. But it has to be made by a barista.
    • Astronymus 17 Feb 16:19
YOu might need to thicken the coffee with something. I admit I have no idea with what. But I'm pretty sure it would work.

    • FineFinerFinest 24 Oct 8:52
No replies required to my complaints about the Pelikan. A friend came to the rescue with some very magnification equipment - with the images thrown to a latge high res screen. Technology is a wonderful thing. Thanks to Mercian for the reply. I had been using the same paper & ink for sometime when the "singing" started. I have a theory but no proof that nibs get damaged when capping the pen. 👍
    • Mercian 22 Oct 22:28
@FineFinerFinest: sometimes nib-'singing' can be lessened - or even cured - by changing the ink that one is putting through the pen, or the paper that one is using. N.b. *sometimes*. Good luck

I'm not expecting any replies to my question about the singing Pelikan nib. It seems, from reading the background, that I am not alone. It's a nice pen. It's such a pity Pelikan can't make decent nibs. I have occasionally met users who tell me how wonderful their Pelikan nib is. I've spent enough money to know that not everyone has this experience. I've worked on nibs occasionally over forty years with great success. This one has me beaten. I won't be buying any more Pelikan pens. 👎
    • FineFinerFinest 21 Oct 4:27

I have several Parker Roller Ball & Fiber Tip refills in the original packaging. Where and how do I sell them? The couple that I've opened the ink still flowed when put to paper. Also if a pen would take the foller ball refill then it should take the fiber tip as well? Anyway it's been awhile and I'm want to take my message collection beyond the few pieces that I have... Meaning I don't have a Parker these refills will fit in 🙄
