Two Pen Parker Leather Pouch

A local vintage dealer gifted me this two pen Parker black leather pouch when I bought two lovely P51 from him. Wonder when was this pouch made available by Parker and with what pens?

Thanks for input.

Hi Khan

I have no idea what the origins of the pouch are, but it looks beautiful. Most pouches I see are quite stiff leather, that that one looks nice and supple.

nice piece of kit Khan - regret I've never seen one, neither can I date this for you - even half accurately. I've looked through the book and there's just about every kind of hard case in which pens were sold, but wasn't aware of seeing any pouches. But - in view of the fact that your pouch incorporates the halo - which apparently made its first appearance 1958 - then obviously not going to be earlier. As an uneducated guess I'd have suggested made some time in the1960s perhaps. If you have the pens that the pouch contained originally, perhaps their date might help.

I would be very surprised if an empty one would actually sell for anywhere near to that sort of price.

There is a newer version on eBay UK

I'm pretty sure I was sent one of that later type in red for free once.

The pens both are 1948 aero 51s. So obviously their dates may not help. However, it is a vintage piece in very good condition and not some fancy modern looking pen pouch. And as mariom said it is nice and supple as new. Quite happy with it.

Thank you, Paul.

There are lots of leather Parker pen pouches around that have never come from a cow or seen the inside of Parker.

Not with the OPs case it would appear.

Pen cases of this style were much later than P51 era, 80s/90s would be closer.

Orginal leather pen cases are a nice thing to have with the pen, they were more popular in Germany than anywhere else with zippered enclosures and just big enough for a Pelikan 100 and pencil, 20 years ago these cases were no more than £2, 10 years ago I was paying £20, now £40 is about standard and an immaculate Pelikan or MB case from the 1940s and 50s can be £80.

I agree. To me it looks to be a genuine Parker product. It is pure leather. Even the inside lining is leather. No fabric is used anywhere.

  • 3 years later...

I actually just found this one today at an antique store in red. Looks newer but still a nice little sleeve for $3!
