Hi Everyone,

I'm Arun from Bangalore, India.

As to why I am here, its kind of a funny story. I was introduced to fountain pens back when I was in school almost more than a decade ago. At that time, although I loved the experience of using a fountain pen, I was kind of frustrated with the ink spilling here and there (mainly due to running around), and the low quality paper which caused bleeding. I reduced using fountain pens just so I could avoid all this hassle.

Last week, all of a sudden I woke up one morning, felt like writing something using a fountain pen and when I realized I didn't have any, I decided to buy one immediately, placed an order for a Parker Vector CT and since that day I have been watching several videos and reading several articles about fountain pens in this forum, about inks, which pen to get next and things like that.

Today I placed an order for a Kaweco Perkeo and I'm quite sure I'll be collecting a lot more fountain pens in the future and once again enjoy the experience of using a fountain pen. :)

Cheers!

Welcome, Arun !

I didn't "run around" a lot, but my spilling of ink all over the place resulted from carrying my fountain pens in my back pocket, and sitting on them. That was in school days. I know better, now.

Write with joy.

Welcome aboard, Arun, from Charleston, South Carolina. As a newbie, you might look at the Reference Pages on a website called Richard's Pens: it has a wealth of info about the basics of fountain pens, their use and care, and it will help you avoid making some mistakes. A couple of other websites with useful information for newbies include PenChalet, Jetpens and the Goulet Pen Company. Goulet has made quite a few videos available on their website and on YouTube, which are helpful with some procedures related to FP use. Bear in mind that how your writing appears on the page is a complex interplay of pen, paper, nib, ink, and handwriting, so be patient as you experiment with these variables. Enjoy, and good luck.

Hello Arun and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

Nice story. My first fountain pen was a Tropen Scholar, which I used throughout my high school years. I still have that pen today, it still writes better than anything else I have in my collection, but it looks the worst of the lot because it ended up in my father's toolbox in the garage for about 30 years, before I found it again.

Enjoy your new hobby. Write with joy.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!
