Nice review! It is a shame about cracking problems because I really want one. I tend to Hulk things even while trying to be gentle. Something about the white with red ink calls to me.

Same here! I had a nib smoothed by Dan Smith recently and he was all, "You know it's pretty easy to do this yourself? Maybe time for you to learn?"

 

With the right practice, its really easy. Just go gentle and slow. After mastering smoothening, I have even ground some stubs and an extra fine from a medium. It takes a steady and slow hand for bothe of them.

 

Honestly, the only thing that puts me off the eco is the ugly finial. I wish they'd just put in their nice inlaid one. I'd pay an extra buck for it (it can't cost that much to do)

The finial is the only problem with its appearance. But I would say go for it.

 

Great informative review, I'm impressed with your very consistent handwriting, probably because mine is all over the place. A piston filled demonstrator is very appealing, but all those stories of cracked pens have kept me away from TWSBI, I am very averse to risk and would rather not deal with after purchase service of any kind. They should at least do some old style videos with their pens surviving drops, being stepped on by elephants, run over by cars...

Stamped by elephants and run over by cars, I think only Karas Kustoms or heavy metal pens can survive them . TWSBIs will be reduces to dust. Thank you for the compliments.

LOL! I love Marvel. I grew up with the original Hulk series and cartoon. My dad took me out of school to go meet Lou Ferrigno as a kid. My First Cosplay was as Bruce Banner!
