So my pen is here ;)

The packaging of Fritz Schimpf is really beautiful...it's a carton wrapped in brown paper. Whoaaa

I need to write some more with this pen to say if I really really like it...It is not as smooth as my other MBs.

The line variation is pretty noticeable...but it is quite similar to my B Nibs...and the B nibs are smoother...

but see for yourself

yeah...after writing a couple of pages, I found the sweet spot of the italic nib...pretty cool actually :D

Thank you for sharing the above images. The Fritz Schimpf Italic 100 is a special event.

The comparative handwriting sample is especially useful. It's thoughtful of you to provide that.

To my eyes the Italic 100 writing has a distinctive clarity which stands out.

I'm glad that you've found the sweet spot so that you'll have years of fun writing with such a nice pen.

The packaging is lovely. What a great addition to your fountain pen collection.

Enjoy!

And me... Tom, do you have inside information? I shiver with antici....................pation.

~ Yes, but perhaps not of the sort that one might expect.

I'm not being coy, but more will be clear later, but not from this FPN member.

Do stay tuned...

I also have this pen and I love it.

I feel rather unqualified to really speak on this because it is my only MB pen so far.

I pre-ordered it because the nib specs really appealed to me. It wrote perfectly from the first letter, and I've written with it every day since.

If an italic nib is offered in the 149, I'll happily order it as well. The choice of yellow gold trim would be appreciated though!

After seeing the writing samples, I just couldn't resist ordering one of these this morning. In addition to the italic nib, I'm also looking forward to having a platinum 146 to go with my platinum 149 O3B. Fröliche Weinachten auf mich! (Hope that's right--I'm reaching 50 years back to college Deutsch.)

Und ein sehr frohes Weinachtsfest für Sie!

Or something like that, stretching back more than 50 years to junior middle school Deutsch.

It's great that you ordered it. Happy writing, after it arrives!

ahhh should have made a deal with Fritz Schimpf :D

First one I convinced in buying one ;)

so...you are ordering from TX I see there...might take a while until the package is overseas...I hope it gets there faaaaaaaaast :)

Sometimes I still miss the sweet spot. So I have starting problems from time to time...need to practice more.

But the line variation is crispy...cant describe it...At first I thought it's very similar to my B nib Montblanc...but after writing some more with it...the B nib feels somehow squishy..or really soft bubbly. Can't describe it :)

The italic feels hard, crispy lines, harsher strokes.

I like it :) and paired with the Shakespeare Velvet Red ink...awww...so nice

Frohe Weihnachten !!!

My italic 146 from Fritz Schimpf (shipped by DHL) made it as far as Dallas, but now tracking says that it was sent to the wrong facility, and there have been no updates in almost 24 hours. I'm beginning to feel a little nervous because of my experience with the R et N 1906 ebonite that got stolen in customs at Chicago. I have put in an inquiry to DHL customer service.

Oh no! :o

I hope you will get your pen very soooon.

I had to refill the pen once already...never happened to me before...so fast...within a week.

Now I am getting there to write with it without it skipping

The pen arrived yesterday. I had to pay duty on it since it was shipped DHL. Even after I paid, there was an extra 24-hour delay until it showed up in their system and they released the package. It's a beauty, but I haven't had a chance to write with it. Too much work and Christmas going on.

Similar experience here--mine wound up in Greensboro where it was held for a week before DHL called and informed me of the extra duty. I paid that and then it was 4 more days before they finally sent the pen on to me. I love writing with it and am pleased with the purchase, but not so pleased with DHL's service! I have this one inked with the new Beatles Psychedelic Purple, a wonderful color. Hope you enjoy your pen!

Glad to hear that it showed up :)

Hope you have time soon to get to write with it.

If you don't mind me asking. How high is the taxes/duty for that pen?

My cost was about $37, about half of which was duty and half of which was an "administrative fee" charged by DHL. I guess they felt entitled to charge me for storage of the package while they figured out that they needed to notify me that I owed the duty, and while they figured out that I had paid it and that they needed to deliver the package. If I were a vendor who uses DHL, I would prepay the duty--they offer that service--and add it to my shipping costs. Or, I would find a better shipping company that handles such matters more efficiently.
