I'd love to see a more adventurous marbling - like orange and blue or red and orange, also a spiral stripe design down the barrel would be neat.

 

Yes, orange would be nice, especially the Orange Marmalade of the little M320 from years back. I agree.

Ordinarily I'd be excited about an orange Pelikan, but this year has been all about Delta for me, as I acquired a few of their pens before they went totally defunct. I identify the "orange marmelade" color with Delta so much that Pelikan can make one, but I won't really be interested.

+1 My thoughts exactly. I also identify the orange with Delta, which is the pen that started it all for me. I too am waiting for the M600 Brown tortoise

and M605 Stresseman, which I expect them to release at some point (based on no concrete evidence, only because it would seem so obvious).

Interesting that, of the three, the pink is best at hiding the inner workings. That's where I think the M320 Ruby has a slight advantage over the Orange.

Brian shows it in the latest Q&A video - he describes it as more of a pearl white. It looks pretty white in the video.

Well getting a picture of the color difference without using daylight is hard, but here's my attempt. The pen is a tiny bit off-white. The box background and ribbon are white-white, and you kind of see the contrast here, especially in the pen cap. I'm not sure I would call it pearl, as it is pretty white, but a shade off of pure. At any rate, I really like the pen and am glad it isn't more creamy. The piston mechanism is the smoothest I've ever encountered.

 

Which leads to my question - when filling a piston pen, some of my pens have instructions that appear to show that you must dip it into the ink only up to the breather hole on the nib, and others show the whole nib dipped, or even the nib + section. Which is correct? Since this is a white pen, I'm a bit reluctant to dip it in far enough to cover the nib/section joint.

I always dip my Pelikans to the edge of the grip section, so that no air can be sucked in.

Hmmm. Looking at the box and it's got the same sort of ribbon threading as on the pink 600. And nobody has said word one about it yet? Whereas there was lots of ranting over the box for the pink one and whether it was sexy or sexist....

I also think the photo of the side by side with the Pink and the White Tortoise was interesting in that the WT cap and piston knob looked whiter than those on the other two pens. But the discussion is bringing to mind the bit of shock I had when I got my M405 Stresemann last spring, and the Anthracite binde is way darker than I was expecting from the promo photos. Not that I dislike the pen, mind -- it's just that the slightly lighter grey would have been even better.

I'll admit that after seeing the three pens side by side my preference is still for the Pink. But of course, there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that I am paying the current eBay prices for one. Not when I couldn't afford the ORIGINAL price when they were still in production....

Well you don't have to actually unthread the ribbon on this one, which weirdly I'll admit, makes it seem much less like corset lacing to me. It feels more like tennis shoes.

Well, I have to admit I am actually considering the pen now I was getting a feeling of 'methinks she doth protest too much' with this one, having commented so many times on how much I dislike white! But fountainpenfollies' recent review has some great photos: https://fountainpenfollies.com/

 

Thanks to the transparency, the stripes might seem softer? (at least in natural lighting). And I am a sucker for the white body. Anyway, looking forward to checking it out *in the flesh* when I go home for Thanksgiving.

It is a nice pen. But I've seen a M805 for a cheaper price. So I'd rather get the bigger one.

Well, someone had one at the Steel City Nibs meeting tonight. And it is white, but not a stark white. It's actually a pretty pen, and lighter weight than I remember the pink one being. But after seeing it, I realized why I don't really have any white pens. I'd be worried about trying to keep it clean. And the pink one really was prettier. I keep hoping that they'll bring the pink out in a smaller size.

Finally, got the email saying my pen is ready to be sent. It seems like I have been waiting forever. This was the 1st pen that I pre-ordered & I think it is the last. Now, what color of ink? Today I got a bottle of the recently discontinued Franklin-Christoph Terra Firma. And then I noticed Robert Oster Red Clay that I don't have. Since the pen is white I can only imagine using red or blue.

If I remember correctly, there were maybe 1-2 people having remarks on the packaging being sexist, others did not really care. I have a feeling it was blown out of proportion by a vocal minority, as these things usually go.
