Looking forward to it.

I had a conversation last night with a friend of mine who is an artist and calligrapher. She sometimes uses fountain pens in her work and was asking me what good lightfast/UV resistant black inks were out there (she said she used to teach C&I classes in the SCA and kept trying very hard to impress upon the students that they should be checking lightfast ratings on their materials (and to dissuade them from using cheap brands of gouache paints and so on) -- because SCA award scrolls are, to some extent, documents (and at the very least, recipients want to frame and display them).

I have been trying to check various fade tests. I saw the ones on the Atelier Novotny site, but those have only been going for a couple of months. So far, the black inks that seem to be doing well: Platinum Carbon Black; De Atramentis Archive Black; and Noodler's Black, X-Feather, and Heart of Darkness (but, of course they've only been up for a comparatively short amount of time).

Any other black inks I should be pointing her at? I've tried Archive Black, Noodler's Black and HoD, and I think I have a sample of X-Feather, but haven't tried it. And of the ones I've tried, my overall favorite is HoD due to it's behavior in other respects.

Ruth, you have inspired me to go get more pictures. Don't forget to check out the old spreadsheet and list. And of course, KTC is the best.

I love seeing fade tests. Too bad many of them just don't hold up. It is so cool to see the ones that do well though!

Those just show me the images of the pages on the boards, they don't show me the results of the testing, where can I actually see the results? The pictures of the inks on the boards I can't even read.
