Help With Sailor Nib Size

Hi;

Greetings from Spain, I have just purchased a fantastic piece of art, the Sailor Kaga Maki-e fountain pen but I have an issue identifying the nib size.

First of all I have to say that I have not been able to try it cause I don't have a converter or cartdrige compatible with the pen, therefore I cannot make any kind of estimation.

The problem is that the nib indicates size "2", I googled Sailor nib sizes and found a "z" size but I see a clear number 2 instead of letter z in the nib. Any ideas about what could it correspond to?

Thank you in advance.

PS. You can find some pictures of the pen attached (although I was not able to make a clear picture where you could see the nib size, but trust me, it is a 2.

Look for size designation often on the edge as F or M-F or Kanji markings as below.

I had already check them but I couldn't identify any of them with the mark in my nib, I eventually took a picture where you can see the nib, I will attach it to the OP.

Are you trying to determine tip width or nib size? If nib size there really are no standard nib sizes. If it says "2" then it is a Sailor #2 size nib. But that is specific to Sailor and not some industry standard.

Thank you Jar. Really helpful. I'm going to stick that away in my reference material.

Thank you for your time Jar, what I am trying to determine is if there is actually a "2" nib size in Sailor and if it means f or m or whatever other size. Sorry for my English, maybe I am not able to make myself clear.

Nib size means what size nib goes on the pen. Sailor doesn't sell nibs individually, so we don't know what Sailor calls those sizes.

It seems you're asking for TIp width.

Tip width on Sailor pens is generally marked on the nib shoulder in letters like F or M; or with japanese kanji that mean Fine or Medium or ...

Some Sailor pens had the tip width kanji written on a sticker that would be removed after sale.

Here are two examples of how Sailor marks tip width.

Nib width is Hard Medium: the hard refers to springiness

Nib width is Hard Fine

Guys, I finally sorted that out, someone from an spanish forum told me that during the 70's Sailor numbered the size and the "2" corresponds to an F.

Thank you all for your help.
