Hi. I'm new here so forgive me if i'm asking wrong questions.

Wonder if anyone can help. I have two Culmer pens from the 1980's (left by my dad). I believe they were produced exclusively (from Italy) for the PEEL PEN SHOP in Montreal (no longer exists), Can anyone provide any info on this pen ? is it rare ? valuable ? Any info would be appreciated. Here is a photo of one.

Whilst they may be unusual any value in the pen is only for someone who particularly likes the design of the material on the pen.

Perhaps worth more to you as a pen bought by your father than to others.

The Peel Pen Shop (peelpenshop.com) is in London, Ont. and I have purchased pens from John Culmer. Get in touch with him. Usual disclaimers; no affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

Unusual for Chinese pens to come from the factory with carts. However most of these would take the international carts.

if the pen come from Canada, carts could have been added from the shop ....

Richard Binder com, is the bible of fountain pens, nibs, filling systems, good advice on inks and many beautiful fountain pens over the eras.

Only take you three days.

An '80's Italian fountain pen could well be semi-flex or regular flex....which is springier with a nicer ride than modern, nail nibs.

The nib is with what we write, so is important to the feel of the pen.

I find cartridges to be expensive. A needle syringe can fill up empty cartridges and save money and give you much more choice of color. (Do flatten the point with a sharping stone....DIY at home ink tattoos is not what we want. A great many of us use a needle syringe. A rubber one can be gotten at Goulets(sp))....just go down to your pharmacist (the widest needle he has) and if need be take a sharpening stone to dull it on the spot. a 10-12ml syringe would do nicely.)

Could well be that the pen can be fitted with a converter so you can fill directly from an ink bottle.

We do want you back..... :W2FPN: ....using that fountain pen as a start. :happyberet:
