Beautiful pens, LInger!  Bamboo Woods is one of my all time favorites.

I agree. Even though I have a very small number of maki-e pens, that all have their design merits, the Bamboo Woods has such a calm, serene presence, with a gorgeous color scheme in a unique three dimensional finish that it is my favorite pen to look at.

Besides, the pen reminds me to think of the Japanese proverb “the bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists” in the daily human interactions.

more girth than the elongated section of the Neo Standard.

Yes please!  Despite my stepdown aversion, and strong committment to flat-tops,  I find myself very attracted to this pen (Kuro Tamenuri). The long wide section keeps calling me. Perhaps in a year or so.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Well, even though the step-down doesn't really bother me with the Decapod or the Portable, it is virtually impossible to notice it with the 17mm Portable, the Neo Standard, or the Dorsal Fin. So go go gooooo!

The Portable is actually my favorite, but the Neo Standard (in middle) features a hand painted clip that matches the design motif.

Gorgeous photos in this thread, but WHOA! The hand-painted clip! *Love!*

This is not as fancy as some of the other pens here, but a simple beauty of an urushi pen - heki tamenuri.

Who needs fancy, when you have this. Beautiful indeed.

I bet there are some new Nakayas to share since 17 months ago. My latest is a Piccolo in Toki-tamenuri. Here it is, by itself, in the Piccolo section and my current Nakaya suite:
