That looks exactly like the "51" I got as a gift recently! Thanks for helping me figure out which pen I've got, it's my first "51" and I have no idea how to recognize them

Parker51.com helped me when I started to figure out what I had in my collection. Until that it had had been blue ones, brown ones, dark red ones, etc.

Finally managed to take a half way decent pen photo (thank you Pen Hero for the tips and inspiration. Im still working on my lighting)

 

First quarter 1945 cedar blue with a 1945 nib. Also my first diaphragm replacement (complete success. Heres to the other 4 I have waiting in the wings...)

Sadly I do not know who Lt L. L. Lash was, i have searched but only with basic google tools.

On the left:

Second quarter 1947 Cordovan Brown with 1947 nib

Cap is technically correct, but possibly not original as the pen has a gold washed clutch ring

 

On the right:

Mid-late 1960s Burgundy (unsure which of the three shades listed in the Shepherds book it is)

51 Standard (aka the Special but with gold nib and frosted cap with pearl jewel) with an amazing medium nib. This pen is in near mint condition.

Hi, Folks,

 

A throwback photo from 2010.

This is a Parker 51 Signet Aerometric Demi fountain pen in 1/10 14 karat gold-filled cap and barrel c. 1949. The first Aerometric models are date coded 1948, though the launch was in 1949. The new filler unit that replaced the Vacumatic system is a clear "pli-glass" ink sac squeeze fill unit with a breather tube. The Signet was among three all metal Aerometric 51s introduced in 1949, along with the solid gold Presidential and the stainless steel Flighter. The engraving on the cap and barrel is three lines and a space. There is also a cartouche on the barrel for personalization. The Aerometric 51 was the top Parker pen until the introduction of the 61 in 1956. The Demi 51 is about 5 inches long and the caps are not interchangable with the longer standard size 51. Shown alongside a Waterman Man 100 Gold "Specimen" fountain pen.

Hi, Folks!

 

Shot this pen with a Rolex GMT Master.

This is a Parker 51 Flighter, an Aerometric filler fountain pen with a Lustraloy cap and barrel c. 1950s. Introduced in 1949, the 5 3/8 inch long pen's stainless steel cap has a thin gold filled band and is stamped PARKER on the front and MADE IN U.S.A. on the back. The clip is gold filled and the cap top jewel is pearlescent. The 14 karat gold nib is hidden under the black section. Later in the 1950s, the cap band was deleted. These pens were advertised at $20.75 retail in 1949-1953, $29.75 with the matching pencil.

Hello FPNer and 51 Parker Lovers , tonight I came across this thread and I thought I just might be able to contribute to the Signet sub division Parker 51

 

A quick check f my collection produced 4 nice signet 51 Sets

 

2 are 1st generation , 1 1948 the other 1949 both filler tube says Press 6 times to fill

 

2 are second generation dtes made unknown, both filler tube reads press four times to fill

1 of the above is a Demi set in a 1950' large gist box

other is a standard 51 length both fillers read press Four times to fill

 

A few photo attachments are included, call your attention to the one with the 4 pens are lined up side by side notice the 1st pen pn the left is the 1948, 5 15/32 the lo followed by the 1949 a tad shorter 5 23/65

the Third pen to the right is the standard 51 , full size still shorter about 5 23/64

Ending with the Demi Pen as expected still shorter than all three, about 5 3/16

 

Hopefully the photo will allow you to see the minor differences , in overall size

First quarter 1948 51 Demi Vacumatic in Cordovan Brown. The seller thought it was a burgundy, but according to my research burgundy was not offered in 1948.
