The only authentic 51 Vac pen color that I don’t have in a double-jewel version is the Dove Grey.  I haven’t seen a double-jewel Dove Grey in the wild, although I’ve seen photos of it.

Good work on the advertising repair of the ad that originally had been split between two magazine pages.  What program/app do you use to do all that?

Thanks

i can’t remember if I did that one in photoshop or in pixelmator pro. Both are perfectly capable of doing the job. I suppose GIMP likely is as well, but I can’t stand it’s user interface, so I’ve never tolerated it for any serious amount of time.

glad you like it.

Just give me the Parker 51s and nobody needs to get hurt.

I just completed this Parker 51 Vac “Frankenpen,” using mixed elements — Kullock Beige barrel, Plum (not Burgundy) jeweled blind cap, and Black hood.  I placed a U.K. B 14k nib (like a U.S. BB Nib) in it.  I chose an early 51-era cap for it.

Yes, I’ve read from a variety of sources in the Forum that the UK-made 51 nibs run larger than the US-made 51 nibs.  So, it appears that the former's BB is like the latter’s B.  So, getting a UK-made nib is a bonus.

I really like your last photo creation.  How many different colors do you have in the Converse All Stars shoes? 😄

re: chucks (aka converse all stars) the only colour of hi-top that I own that I didn't do a picture of with pens was the whites, because I don't have any white "51"s or snorkels :P

Sometimes it is about the cap.

Is it just my imagination, or do the "new" 51s have blind caps on them?  Because it sure looks like that in those images....  And if so (since presumably they're c/c pens) WHY?  Because I really can't imagine Parker bringing back vac filler pens....

Apologies for the delay in responding -- I thought someone else would probably answer.

There is no blind cap on the new 51 pen. Just an artefact of the photograph, I'm afraid.

But, in passing, the Wing Sung 601 does have a blind cap, because it is a real vac-fil sort of arrangement. That pen is well worth the cost because it writes quite nicely.

Hope this helps.

@FarmBoy window pane cap?  Is it bulging in the middle or is that an optical illusion?

Sometimes it’s about only part of the cap:

No bulge. Not a window pane. Just 4 rings.

I had one on a 51 2002 but the real McCoy is in a different league.

Agree with both of you.  Parker did a nice job on the caps of its 2002 remake, but there’s nothing like the original-make.
