How Do I Achieve More Ink Capacity Over Cartridge/converter Filling ?

Hello,

For a pen that uses international cartridges/converters, would anyone know how to effect a larger ink capacity than the standard international cartridge converter which holds 0.7 ml.

For example, syringe filling a full length cartridge will achieve 1.4 ml approx or eye dropper filling the pen even more; but these use syringes and eye droppers which are inconvenient.

Are there alternatives like squeeze fillers ? I'd imagine a sac that runs the full length of the pen would equal a full length cartridge.

Thanks,

Fabian

EDIT: my apologies, I did not fully read your post and realized I gave you answers you already knew. Depending on the pen, I'm not sure if there are alternative sac fillers out there you can use, but since they'd have to fit a specifc pen body, they'd likely have to be custom made.

Personally I don't find using a syringe all that inconvenient, especially with an eyedropper. You end up filling the pen so infrequently it more than offsets the mild inconvenience compared to popping in a cartridge, but that's just me.

Depending on the pen, you can make your own bulb filler. I did it for one pen where I could not find a converter that would fit.

  • Get a cartridge, put it into the pen to see how far into the section it goes.
  • Mark the cartridge at the section and about 1/4 inch out from the section.
  • Cut the cartridge at the 1/4 inch line
  • Fit an ink sac into the pen.
    • This is the difficult part, to figure out how long you can make the ink sac.
    • One way is to put the sac or a rod into the body to see how far down it can go.
    • Then put the section next to the body, but at the same relative position that it would screw in.
    • Then note where the cartridge is sticking out from the section.
  • Cut the sac to length then shellac it to the cartridge.

Some pens to not have enough clearance around the cartridge to do this.
