Best Orange Ink

Looking for feedback- what are your experiences? I have high hopes for Diamine Blood Orange

I've tried noodles Cayene, Habanero and Apache Sunset and they're all too dry. Diamine Pumpkin flows beautifully, but is too fluorescent in my eyes.

Diamine Blood Orange is luscious, but if you want a brighter orange I like Sailor Apricot/Kin Mokusei (they are as close as makes no difference)

Yu-Yake shades lusciously and performs like a champ in every pen I own.

I thought I got a sample of Yu-Yale too- I must have blanked on it. Maybe I'll strop by Wonderpens if I have time. They sell samples for $2.25, but at $8 to ship I don't want to place anorder for one sample.

The only orange ink I've used (and subsequently fell in love with even though I didn't have any real desire for orange ink and only picked up a sample out of curiosity) is Nemosine's Solar Storm. It looks best in a wet pen, although I'm not sure it's a dry ink. It's just gorgeous with great shading.

I had a feeling I"d be ordering a bottle for one of those two with out even trying them yet. Just wanted to give the other players a shot. This just affirms that either of those would be a winner.

If they're that close I'll go w the Sailor since I don't have any of their inks yet.

Thanks for the heads up. It wasn't on my radar but maybe I can track some down. If you can believe it though, I'd have to buy a Nemosine pen first. For some reason I won't buy an ink unless I've got the same brand of pen to match it. Not that I match brands, I just need to know there's an available pairing in my collection.

I meant that the two Sailor inks were close. They aren't close in shade to Diamine Blood Orange. :)

I use orange inks a lot. And I am very picky about them. I do not care for Lamy Copper-Orange. I have used the Noodlers oranges that you mentioned and, which I loved the shading, I did not like the flow and lubrication.

I love P.I. Yu-Yake and P.I. Fuyu-Gaki (a darker red-orange). I have also heard great things about J. Herbin's Orange Indien and have ordered a bottle of that. I have also heard that Robert Oster Ng Special is quite good. I have used Robert Oster Peach which is nice but is a softer orange.

Don't know about the best but I really enjoy writing with mine, and somehow I ended up with four oranges; blood orange looks good too. Some of them look too pale with finer nibs.

- Orange Indien +2 (although somewhat watery)

- Omas (an all-time "basic", relatively new, very rich)

- CdA Saffron (out of print)

- MB Ghandi (ditto, but still one of the most original)

Thanks all! Really looking forward to blood orange now. I think I'll try it last though since it's nearly a sure thing.

Another vote for Sailor Kin-Mokusei

Although Blood Orange and Yu-Yake are calling my name....along with too many other inks.

BunguBox Sweet Potato Yellow (don't be fooled by the name; it is orange).

slightly OT first.. at times we suddenly stop to admire, having just seen handwriting that deserves the writing equipment, inks, & papers we're viewing.

This is such a moment. Thanks tgoto!

Very much like this not-orange range example I prefer.

Last winter the orange ink project Kill Winter With Orange, featuring a different orange ink each day was both cheerful & Bright!
