Week #32 / 6 Aug: Love/hate - 2017 Weekly Ink Project

Let's try something different this week. Mix an ink you love and an ink you dislike at 1:1 ratio. As LizEF reminds us, don't forget to let your mixture settle for a while before using it in a pen, in case of unexpected interaction between the inks! If you're not sure, use a dip pen. Or you may just use the two inks in separate pens instead.

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

Click here to read more about this community project. Links to the two previous links can be found there too.

I created two 1:1 mixtures yesterday. How long should they be allowed to sit to observe for problems before adding to an inexpensive, replaceable pen (i.e. Pilot Metro)?

I'd say if you haven't noticed anything strange (goo, sediment, etc.) by now, you are good to go.

I went with two similar inks, hoping to make something I could use. I may have found it.

I think I prefer the original KWZ El Dorado. It looks a really nice colour and I didn't know any of them were scented. B)

I'm with you on the De A Matthias Claudius. :(

I don't think it's intentional —most of the KWZ inks I have have some type of aroma, some pleasant, some not so much. The Monarch and El Dorado do have a really pleasant caramel-like scent. Weird, right?

I think it's quite nice too!

I like it very much; it reminds me of the Kyoto TAG orange inks. I like it enough to have just ordered some Pelikan Pink ink, which was no small feat to find it, finally in carts & I believe I will be fine with the carts & not a bottle! It will be fun to "give this a go," after making sure I did have the #21 Kobe Temple Yellow.

This was fun!! I was surprised that this mixture did not gel as the Noodler's is opaque and thick to start with!
