Can't Remove Entire Vacumatic Pump

Alcuin

Recommended Posts

I used a tool today to remove the pump filler from my Parker 51 vacumatic. However, in unscrewing the pump mechanism, it seems that the small metal part of it will not come out.

What can I do to remove it? I've tried a wooden rod to push it out, but it won't budge.

I just removed the pump unit. Can't take a picture right now, but this. The only difference is, the silver part is not on there (it's in the pen still).

The black plastic piece that the diaphragm attaches to is also damaged - it looks like part of it cracked off. So I'll have to replace it at some point.

I think you pulled the filler out too hard.

If the filler sticks, as yours has, it has to be pushed out from the front, with the correct tools.

So you then have to disassemble the front of the pen to push the filler part out.

In your condition/situation, a correct size wood dowel could be used to push out the sleeve, since the pellet cup is already broken.

Then you have to repair or replace the filler unit.

I suspected the pellet cup may have shattered. The cup is to big to fit through the sleeve. Often the shaft breaks.

On a metal filler nothing would be left if you tried to pull it out.
