ARGH!!! I'm in total mourning! I've had to send one of the new Krones back to FPH for repairs!

 

It sprung a leak somewhere in the body of the pen so that when I unscrewed the cap to refill it [piston] I got a handful of PR Black Cherry. Tried refilling it with another ink [Waterman Black] but nooooooooo. There's a leak somewhere in the piston. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Rinsing the pen results in even MORE stain coming out the wrong end.

 

So off it goes and I'm left with the Gothic until they pronounce what can be done for the Celtic. Sob! It had turned into 1 of my constant daily writers. How could it be leaking and only a month old?! Whimper!

 

I'm now in withdrawal until they can fix it and get it back to me.

Yep. This is one of the bought it new during the FPH feeding frenzy pens. Less than a month of use and BAM! Fortunately it's FPH, so I'm not worried. Much.

 

My right hand is now PR Black Cherry colored and my blouse is sporting Sherwood Forest [since I had to test it to see if it was a one off occurrence].

 

The Gothic is still being perfectly behaved, so at least I have one baby to keep me company. Snuffle, whimper, moan...

Oh, bad news. My cerebral cortex goes out to you, which is where the sharing of the feeling comes from as opposed to my cardiac pump.

 

It's always a drag when a pen fails, especially if it's one that you like. But I'm sure that FPH will fix it up for you just fine. Better it should happen a month after you've bought it than some time right after the warranty period expires, as happened with my computer!

This has been a fascinating exploration of how one question turns into a huge spending spree. I love how Caligatia goes from "looking for a cheap pen" to "where can I get parchment and how can I use it?" followed by a suggestion of handbound Italian notebooks.... no response in the order of "oh, but I can't possibly afford..."

 

PAS is chronic here. Looking at the original suggestions, I'm now eyeing that Duke Copper Knight! This is terrible!

When faced with functional beauty, who will not periodically give up feeding the body [or at least cut back on their discretionary spending for an obscene amount of time] to purchase their chosen art form so as to enjoy years of pleasure as opposed to the transitory thrill of everyday consumables?

I couldn't wait anymore for the Duke pen to arrive -- last night I loaded my Vista with Black Cherry. I've only written a couple of paragraphs with it so far, but I'm liking it.

 

And now I'm thinking about a Lamy Studio. Sigh. This is never going to end, is it?

Which Sheaffer pens did you have ? I have been thinking about getting a Targa, I love the shape of the nib, and I can come up with the required 50-60 bucks...what do you think about the Targa? I read the review in the Reviews section but the review bordered on nostalgic (Sheaffer iowa factory is down the drain..etc etc), and while that's all fine, I still want to know the Targa from a purely performance based perspective...

 

 

Psst: If I'm really really very good, will you also let me keep the Visconti demonstrator skeleton ? I mean really really good and nice (I'll even ask the mods to incorporate a wicked smiley)

I had a green enamel one from a store going out of business [M nib]. It was reliable enough for several year's use, but I found myself leaving it in the drawer more and more because of the narrow diameter. It ended up being one of the first I sold. I've got small hands, but it was just too narrow for protracted use. The nib was nice, so if you find one you like and you can stand writing with something as narrow as a No 2 pencil, the nibs write just like any other Shaeffer of pre-disaster vintage.

 

My Viscontis will be covered by the prenup. So when and if you're REALLY that good, we can negotiate. <insert really majorly evil tongue in cheek smiley here> Remember, they're B nibs, so you know I'm a girl who goes for both size and performance.
